Global concern grows as Hamas’s violent actions cast shadow over Gaza peace deal

Footage of events that have sent shockwaves across the international community has surfaced just hours after the signing of the Gaza peace deal. Disturbing video has emerged showing Hamas executing a group of Palestinians accused of collaborating with Israel. The footage depicts seven men kneeling with their hands tied behind their backs before being shot dead. Onlookers at the scene can be heard chanting slogans after the execution. The video has raised global concerns about whether the recently signed Gaza peace deal will be undermined.

The footage appeared shortly after US President Donald Trump brokered a peace agreement aimed at ending over two years of conflict in Gaza. Media reports have shared the concern that Hamas, weakened by sustained Israeli bombing, may be resorting to violence to reassert its control over the territory. Last month, Hamas executed three individuals accused of spying for Israel. Simultaneously, five Hamas supporters were shot dead by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) shortly after the ceasefire agreement took effect. The five individuals reportedly approached the army in violation of the agreement. Israeli authorities attempted to prevent their advance, but the group did not retreat. The IDF stated that the individuals approached soldiers in northern Gaza under suspicious circumstances and were fired upon because they crossed the designated yellow line, constituting a violation of the ceasefire.

The incidents occurred a day after the successful signing of a peace deal in Egypt, facilitated by US President Trump. The agreement included a hostage swap, which was completed on Monday, with the last hostages held by Hamas released. In total, 20 hostages were transferred via the International Committee of the Red Cross. However, Hamas has so far returned only four of the 28 bodies of hostages who died in custody. Hamas has stated that it has been unable to recover the remaining bodies. Families of the deceased hostages have condemned this as a betrayal. Those released from captivity on both sides allege that they endured brutal torture. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had previously asserted that the war could only end if Hamas were fully disarmed. Hamas, on the other hand, demands a complete withdrawal of the Israeli army from Gaza and assurances that hostilities will not resume. Several points of contention remain, including the question of who will govern Gaza. While the exchange of hostages and prisoners is seen as a positive first step, the future remains uncertain. Meanwhile, President Trump has announced that a second phase of negotiations has commenced.

Israel has also insisted that Hamas be completely eliminated, asserting that the group should not be allowed to operate anywhere. Israeli officials have accused Hamas of publicly executing those who opposed them in Gaza, citing video evidence as proof. The international community continues to monitor the situation closely, given the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the ceasefire agreement and the future governance of Gaza. While the initial steps, such as the hostage exchange, are being viewed as constructive, tensions on the ground remain high, and the possibility of renewed conflict persists. The release of the footage, combined with recent clashes, highlights the fragility of the peace process and raises pressing questions about the enforcement of the ceasefire and the ability of both parties to adhere to the terms of the agreement. Global leaders, meanwhile, are evaluating the next steps in negotiations to prevent further escalation and ensure long-term stability in the region.
