Former minister and senior BJP leader V Sunil Kumar has launched a scathing attack on Minister Priyank Kharge, condemning his controversial letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah seeking a ban on Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) activities in government premises. Calling the move “a product of arrogance and ignorance,” Sunil Kumar challenged Kharge to “ban RSS if he has the courage and then face the people in elections.”
Speaking to reporters, Sunil Kumar described Priyank Kharge’s letter as a “disgraceful act” that exposes his immaturity and political insecurity. “Priyank Kharge has written an irresponsible and illogical letter demanding a ban on the RSS. This reflects his lack of understanding of India’s social fabric. His father, Mallikarjun Kharge, was the Home Minister once — even he could not act against the RSS. Out of arrogance of power and the illusion that he can please the Gandhi family, Priyank is making baseless statements. Such arrogance will only destroy his political career,” he warned.
Sunil Kumar further said, “Priyank, your power is temporary, but the RSS ideology is eternal. The Sangh has been serving society for a hundred years and will continue for centuries. Millions of volunteers like us will work for the next generations. What have you achieved in your two-and-a-half years as minister? During the floods in Kalyana Karnataka, you went missing. Now you are issuing such statements just to prove that you are alive in politics.”

Slamming the Congress government in Karnataka, he said, “This is the weakest government the state has seen in recent times. The Chief Minister has no control over his cabinet. Ministers speak whatever they want. Every day there is confusion about who is leading the government. This is not a 100 per cent government, this is an 80 per cent government full of chaos.”
Sunil Kumar accused Priyank Kharge of attempting to cover up his administrative failures by targeting the RSS. “Across the state, roads are full of potholes, development projects are stuck, and rural areas are suffering. In your own district, contractors have committed suicide and illegal sand mining is rampant. You have not provided grants to gram panchayats, you have not visited districts, you have not implemented welfare schemes. To hide your incompetence, you are attacking the RSS in the media,” he charged.
He added that the RSS has earned respect worldwide as a patriotic organisation that promotes discipline, service, and national pride. “The RSS has made unmatched contributions to the country’s unity and nation-building. It stood by the nation during wars, natural disasters, and crises. Even Congress leaders once praised the organisation during the India-China war and allowed it to participate in the Republic Day parade. Priyank Kharge should learn history before speaking,” he said.
Continuing his attack, Sunil Kumar said, “If Priyank truly believes in democracy and nationalism, let him ban the RSS and contest the next election on that agenda. The people will teach him a lesson he will never forget. The RSS is not just an organisation; it is an emotion rooted in patriotism and sacrifice. You cannot destroy it with your letters or statements.”
He also accused Kharge of using divisive politics to stay relevant. “This is not the first time Priyank Kharge has targeted the RSS. Every time he feels politically sidelined, he drags the Sangh’s name into controversy to get media attention. He has done nothing for the people but has mastered the art of loud statements. Such immature politics will only backfire,” he asserted.
Concluding his remarks, Sunil Kumar said, “Karnataka deserves responsible leaders, not publicity-hungry ministers. The Congress government is collapsing under its own contradictions. Instead of focusing on governance, Priyank Kharge is playing dangerous political games. His baseless attack on the RSS is not just an insult to an organisation but an insult to millions of patriotic citizens who dedicate their lives to the nation.”
