Guwahati: Assam police to lodge FIR against Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi for inciting fans and followers of deceased singer Zubeen Garg. On the mysterious death of singer Zubeen Garg, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi said that his fans and followers are calm, so they are not burning shops, tyres, public properties etc. “ I have seen in other states, on the death of popular artists, followers burn shops, close roads, burn tyres and public properties. But Zubeen’s fans are keeping patience here.”
Reacting to the bizarre comment of the Congress deputy LoP Gaurav Gogoi, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said an FIR will be lodged against the MP for inciting the public to do violence. He incited people to burn shops and public properties. Why does he want to create such a situation and what is his enmity with the shop keepers, the CM questioned?
CM further said that an omnibus case will be registered against all who wanted to create a violent situation during the funeral of Zubeen Garg. MP Gaurav Gogoi will be questioned on why he incited people to create unrest in the state. A case will be registered against all persons who tried to create unrest in Guwahati airport during arrival of the mortal remains of Zubeen Gard and in Sarusojai stadium where his mortal remains were kept for public tribute. People who said that a Nepal like situation will be created in Assam will be spared, this is not acceptable, CM Sarma said. The people who are creating unrest demanding justice for Zubeen, have nothing to do with Zubeen’s immortal creations. This is purely politics. Gaurav Gogoi’s wife and his two children are British nationals and how can he understand the sentiments of the Assamese people and their beloved singer? CM Sarma said.
It should be mentioned that a left eco system backed by Congress is trying to create unrest in Assam following singer Zubeen Garg’s mysterious death. CM earlier said that those who hate BJP for the state government’s continuous eviction drives are trying to exploit Zubeen’s death and create unrest in the state. Numbers of such fringe elements are using social media to incite people against the government. Opposition parties led by Congress are even supporting these elements. Meanwhile, Assam police SIT are investigating the untimely death of popular singer Zubeen Garg in Singapore while swimming in sea on September 19. His manager Shidharth Sharma, bandmate Shekhar Goswami, co-singer Amritprabha Mahanta and organiser of Northeast Festival in Singapore Shyamkanu Mahanta were arrested by the SIT. Over 20 people were quizzed by the investigating team so far. But crores of Zubeen’s fans and followers are eagerly waiting to know the outcome of the investigation.
