Korutla, the historic town where the first Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) shakha in the Telangana region was established during the Nizam rule of the Hyderabad State, witnessed history come alive once again on Sunday. The mission that began in 1936 under the leadership of Kasturi Ellappa ji continues to thrive with the same dedication, discipline, and devotion to the nation.

Marking 100 years of the organisation’s service to society, 579 swayamsevaks dressed in ganavesh (uniform) took part in a disciplined path-sanchalan through the streets of Korutla. Their synchronised march, filled with patriotic fervour and cultural pride, reflected the Sangh’s enduring spirit of national unity and moral strength. The centenary march began from Iailapur Dharwaza area where the first shakha once stood, symbolically connecting the town’s glorious past with the living present. The lamp lit nearly a century ago has today become a blazing flame — a representation of RSS’s expanding role in social service, character building, and nation-building.

According to sources, RSS Telangana is commemorating its centenary year with more than 4,000 Vijaya Dashami Utsavs across the state. These celebrations are being organised at the grassroots level, with each unit covering roughly 10,000 people — either basti-wise in urban areas or through clusters of two to three villages forming an upa-mandal in rural regions. The initiative reflects the RSS’s commitment to decentralised organisation and people’s participation.

Local swayamsevaks are leading these programmes, which have been underway since 22 September. They include path-sanchalans, community meetings, and awareness activities that highlight the Sangh’s century-long journey of selfless service and dedication to Dharma and the nation. In Korutla, the event stood not only as a tribute to its historic roots but also as a reaffirmation of the timeless message of unity, discipline, and national resurgence.
