Bihar: Five foreign nationals held for illegally sneaking into Bharatiya territory

The foreigners, four of them from Sudan and one from Bolivia were all allegedly escaped from jail in Nepal during the recent crisis in the Himalayan nation

Patna: Police in Bihar have arrested five foreign nationals who have allegedly escaped from jail in Nepal during the recent crisis in the Himalayan country and illegally sneaked into Bharatiya territory.

The accused were caught at Ghodasan bus terminus of East Champaran district, when they were about to board a bus to Patna on late evening, September 20.

According to details, four of the arrested accused identified as Abdul Fitah, Ali Abdul Gaffar, Rma Siddiqi and Ahmad Dafala are residents of Sudan while another accused Miguael Solano Chawej is a resident of Bolivia.

They were all arrested after a police team raided the Ghodasan bus terminus on a tip-off from Sashastra Seema Bal [SSB]. The foreign nationals had reportedly sneaked into Bharatiya territory from Agarwa border route.

An FIR into the matter has been lodged at Ghodasan police station and the accused are currently being interrogated by officials from separate security agencies.

The accused were also said to be in contact with a Bharatiya national who was reportedly assisting them. The police have also recovered some objectionable items from the possession of the accused individuals.

Security was stepped up along the Bharat-Nepal border earlier on, after mass protest rocked the neighbouring nation in the second week of September 2025. Thousands of inmates reportedly escaped jail in Nepal during the protest that resulted in ousting of former Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

Strict vigil maintained by SSB and police along the Bharat- Nepal borders, extending to multiple states however, led to arrest of scores of foreigners who were caught while trying to enter Bhartiya territory after escaping from prison in Nepal.
