Kolanu Paka, near Jangaon, is a great Jain Kshetram. Atrocities committed by a jagirdar, Nawab Turab Yar Jung, knew no limits. He enforced religious conversions, turning Dalits into Muslims. Meanwhile, a movement against Vetti Chakiri (bonded labour) and heavy taxation was already active. When Arya Samaj organised a Shuddhi programme, Kolanupaka’s Arutla Ramachandra Reddy and Arutla Lakshminarasimha Reddy supported it, checking the jagirdar’s excesses. These deceitful conversions and Arya Samaj’s counter-efforts made him grasp the political situation. He later became a Communist leader who once polled more votes than Jawaharlal Nehru, but today they remain silent before religious terror.
Strangely, the “Communist school of thought,” with “perverse logic,” now demands that the Bharatiya Janata Party be kept from power and “Hyderabad Liberation Day” be erased. When memories are stirred, these so-called comfort-seekers argue conflicts will arise and insist everyone must become “Ghaznis,” a theory born of their red brains.
Suppression, Resistance, and Twisted Narratives
After 1940, in the country’s communal partition politics, the Muslim League blindly supported Jinnah’s theory. Communists like Khwaja Ahmad Abbas carried it on their heads. The same trend extended to the Nizam. Mohammed Ali Jinnah, who ate pork, abducted a friend’s wife, never performed Hajj, was hailed as a great Muslim! Shall one blindfold oneself to ignore Mir Osman Ali Khan’s atrocities — seven wives, 42 concubines, 18 sons and 19 daughters — while he lived royally?
“Although it is true that those whose ‘mother tongue is Urdu’ are in a minority, yet Urdu is the cultural and official language of the state and of polite society.” — a firman graciously issued for barely 11 per cent Urdu speakers, while Telugu, Marathi, and Kannada sentiments were thrown into the dustbin. What noble intentions, Sir Akbar Hydari! And today’s so-called intellectuals, who bend over backwards hide such history — can they muster even a whisper in reply? In 1929, when a girls’ school was established in Narayanguda, Hyderabad, it was cancelled for being a “Telugu medium of instruction.” Do those who now cry hoarse about “Hindi imposition in the South” even know this? Where were their mighty lungs when Telugu was strangled under the Nizam? Today, they beat their chests about “Hindi,” forgetting the original crime was Urdu imposition.
When the “Andhra Prakashini Library” opened in Suryapet, the taluqdar inspected and shut it down. Why was another nishan (order, 23, 12 Mehr 1333 Fasli) issued from the Warangal Adalat Nazimsa? Can intellectuals explain? Why did Doddi Komarayya’s elder brother, Doddi Mallayya — the so-called first martyr of the Telangana struggle — convert to “Khadar Ali”? Can pseudo-secular liberal intellectuals answer?
“Ori Nizam, demon!” — thundered Dasaradhi. Shall we now bury his Telugu poetic legacy in false history?
Yes indeed! Twisting, smearing, distorting history is nothing new! Max Müller, William Jones, HM. Elliot, Elphinstone, WW Hunter, Vincent Smith — and inheriting them, RS Sharma, Romila Thapar, RC Majumdar, Satish Chandra, Ramachandra Guha — are these our ideals! What more can we expect from you!? Have you even heard of “Vilasa Tamra Shasanam”? Turn the pages of Communist fighter Chandra Rajeswara Rao’s Charitraatmak Telangana Poratam, Congress supporter Veldurti Manikya Rao’s Hyderabad Samsthanamlo Swatantryodyamam, Congress struggle leader Swami Ramananda Tirtha’s Hyderabad Swatantrya Poratam, or Vande Mataram Ramachandra Rao’s Hyderabad Police Action. If not, at least read Velpati Rama Reddy’s Telangana Sayudha Poratam, published by the Telangana government’s Telugu Academy in 2014. Fine! Call these Hindus, fools, “ignorant ones without history.” Then at least read the poetry of Makhdoom Mohiuddin or Heeralal Moria!
Razakar Brutality and Forgotten Courage
The massacres by the Razakars in Telangana were more brutal than the Nazi genocide of Jews. Journalist Shoaibullah Khan, who opposed Qasim Razvi through Imroze, was killed in Hyderabad itself. Was not Taslima Nasreen attacked in Hyderabad Press Club? What real difference lies between Shoaib’s killing on August 21, 1948 and today’s assault on Taslima?
This “amnesia theory” is nothing but fear and hatred of the other. However disgusting or terrifying, only by knowing history can we build the future. By admitting past mistakes and weaknesses, we safeguard ourselves.
In appeasement, the majority’s sentiments were ignored. Powerless, burdened with foreign culture, living like corpses, thinking “tolerance is culture” — this is sheer ignorance. Turning Hasan and Hussain into Asanna and Ushanna and calling it mixed culture — let wisdom not permit such delusion. Another media intellectual busied himself with killing history, claiming Muslims acted only because Hindu groups like Arya Samaj “provoked” them. Brilliant logic! Such is the towering knowledge paraded by university teachers and “researchers.”
In the Dhoolpet incident of 15 April 1938, Bahadur Yar Jung unleashed Razakars. When the Lodh Kshatriyas resisted, his two sons died. And yet, those sitting in universities under Dalit-Girijan names forget the Lambadis of Dharmapur west thanda. In 1948, when Jatothu Hemu’s daughter-in-law Poolamma was alone and they tried to molest her, she blinded Razakars with chilli powder and cut off one’s organ who was naked — is such bravery ordinary? On 1 December 1946, in Mallareddygudem of Huzurabad, Dalit women Chindrala Thondamma, Guruvamma, and Ankalamma gave their lives facing Razakars — does this not appear through the red prism? Fighting the Nizam’s Razakars were Warangal Narayan Reddy, Jangaon Shatagopalachari, Chakali Ilamma, Mogilayya Goud, Vande Mataram Ramachandra Rao, Swami Ramananda Tirtha, Gadiyaram Ramakrishna Sharma, Paga Pullareddy, Narayanrao Pawar, Shoaibullah Khan, Gaddam Sambayya, Mangali Chandrayya, Putnala Pulirammakka — people of every class stood united.
Why do these liberals love only one class? For that, this Dravidian pranayama invents a history that never existed. Distorting history is the Left’s old habit; covering it up has become their nature. As Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit, people will dig into hidden history. If hing (asafoetida) is wrapped in cloth, can its smell be contained? At least the souls of those who fought the struggle should be given peace. After Dr Narayan Reddy’s murder in Warangal, when the local Ittehadul Muslimeen leaders stood in court, Kaloji cried: “I cannot sit, from them raw blood smell is coming” — should this not be heeded? Those speaking of “Jal-Jangal-Zameen” and invoking Komaram Bheem must remember why he cracked Siddiqi’s skull. Looking at Parakala’s martyrs — Gajji Parvatam, Kutam Velayya, Potaganti Peddulu and others sacrificed to Zia-Ullah pistols — at least once read the bulletin released by “Congress House, Bombay.” Who were Badapalli Sattayya, Kottagattu Janardhan, Mogullapalli Achari’s daughters? Which religion’s people abducted them — can you say? Can you cite even one reverse case? Does it not strike us that the lullaby once sung across Telangana belonged to Bhuvanagiri’s Satka Andalamma? Why was young Andal buried in a dargah? Thus, before Telangana liberation, it was all bloodstains. At least now, instead of erasing history, intellectuals must show restraint.
Liberation, RSS Role, and Today’s Amnesia
The Germans never hid Nazi cruelties. Europe did not glorify Hitler as great, nor write poems or films praising talents he never had. They did not crown him in books. To those sneering that the RSS had no role in Hyderabad’s liberation — here’s inconvenient history. Arya Samaj leaders asked Hedgewar for 500 men. He sent more than 2,000 Swayamsevaks from Vidarbha, Marathwada, Rajasthan, Madhya Bharat and beyond. They courted arrest, faced torture, some embraced martyrdom. Hedgewar bade farewell to Bhayyaji Dane; Vaman Hedgewar joined the 1938 Satyagraha. Acharya Dharmendra came from Rajasthan, offered Satyagraha, and was jailed. To say we must enjoy this land’s oppression with the disease of “amnesia” is historical treachery. The erstwhile Razakars, now dressed as MIM, will soon scramble for refurbished bunkers to spin fairy tales. The trouble is, evidence comes from their own mouths — the chest-beating heirs of Qasim Razvi. They pitch a victim tent to look like martyrs while carefully airbrushing facts. But evidence doesn’t oblige; it speaks, even when shoved under the red carpet. As sunlight strikes this unlocked history, the convenient cloth of lies vanishes — and the Central Government prepares to officially celebrate Hyderabad Liberation Day.
