The operation was launched in the forest area under the jurisdiction of Gorhar police station limits of Hazaribagh. The joint team following the operation recovered three bodies along three AK-47 rifles. A large quantity of ammunition, Maoist literature and technical equipment were also recovered from the site of gun battle.
Lugu Pahad and Parasnath area free from armed Maoist-insurgency
The encounter marks another significant blow to the already weakened Maoist outfit in the state. According to officials, with the operation at Hazaribagh on Monday, all armed Naxals in Jhumra and Lugu Pahad area of Bokaro and Parasnath area of Giridih have been eliminated by security forces.
“With this, all naxals in Jhumra and Lugu Pahar areas of Bokaro & in Parasnath area of Giridih have been eliminated. As of today, there are no naxals in that region. We can call that region naxal-free…In Jharkhand, now just one Poliburo member and two CC members remain; they live in Saranda. Besides this, there are no senior formations anywhere in the state. This is a major achievement for Jharkhand,” said Jharkhand IG Operations Michaelraj S.
Only two districts of the state remained affected by red terror, as per a release by the Union Government. This include West Singhbhum, which is among the 6 most Maoist-affected districts in the country. 18 districts currently stand affected by armed Maoist-insurgency in Bharat which the Union Government aims to eradicate by March next year.
