Police sources said that they were tracking Shah Alam for quite a long time.

He was in constant touch with his Bangladeshi handlers. The arrested teacher even hosted a few Jamaat activities from Bangladesh in his house. Simultaneously he was working on setting up a base for a new Jihadi module in Assam controlled by Bangladeshi handlers. Another teacher Hazarat Ali who is also part of the same Jihadi module has escaped the police raid. Search is on to nab Ali. Many suspicious and indiscriminary documents were seized from Shah Alam and Hazarat Ali’s house by police in the search operation including Jihadi literature, mobile phones, leaflets etc. There are several Jihadi modules active in border districts of Assam which are directly controlled by elements in Bangladesh. Earlier Assam police busted over 6 Jihadi modules and arrested over 60 Islamist terrorists linked with Bangladesh based terror group ABT and AQIS.

AASU demands shot at sight in border

Meanwhile, All Assam Student Union (AASU) has announced a series of agitations demanding uprooting of radical elements and deportation of Bangladeshi from the state. AASU chief adviser Dr Samujjal Bhattacharya in a pressmeet in Guwahati said that the 268 kilometers long border with Bangladesh must be sealed with immediate effect as per the clause of Assam Accord. He also said that detection and deportation of illegal intruders must take place on a war foot. Bhattacharya said that until and unless there is no shot at sight order in the border, the infiltration will never stop. The student body demands immediate implementation of shot at sight order in the India-Bangladesh border.
