A chilling account of intimidation and harassment has emerged from Malda Medical College and Hospital, where intern doctor Mayurakshi Ghosh has alleged that she was harassed and verbally abused by fellow doctor Muhammad Mijanur Rahman. What followed her complaint, she claims, was not justice but coercion, captivity, and threats—a shocking reflection of how whistleblowers and women in medical institutions are silenced in West Bengal.
According to Ghosh, the incident began when she was subjected to harassment and verbal abuse by Dr. Rahman. Determined not to remain silent, she raised a formal complaint against him. Instead of action being taken against the accused, she says, a sinister chain of intimidation unfolded.

She and her fellow interns were allegedly locked inside the principal’s office for nearly 12 hours, effectively held captive without any explanation. During this ordeal, she received threatening phone calls, warning her of dire consequences if she pursued her complaint further.
The young intern is now said to be deeply traumatised and living in fear, unsure whether justice will ever be delivered in a system that appears stacked against her.
