Free Ration Scheme: Food Security for Millions
The government has shown its commitment to ensuring that no family goes hungry through its massive free ration distribution program. Under this welfare program, around 15 crore people in Uttar Pradesh are being provided free food grains. In Uttar Pradesh alone, 1.86 crore families have been provided free LPG connections, protecting them from the health risks of cooking on traditional chulhas. Clean cooking fuel has reduced indoor smoke, helping women and children stay healthier. It also saves time, as women no longer need to collect firewood. With LPG at home, they can focus on useful work, support family income, and give more attention to children’s education.

As per official figures, 1.06 crore families are receiving annual pensions of Rs 12,000 under various social security schemes. The pensions are directly transferred to bank accounts, eliminating middlemen and ensuring that the beneficiaries receive the full amount. For many households, this small but assured financial support has meant the difference between dependency and dignity.
