In a dramatic disclosure during the ongoing Operation Sindoor debate in Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi revealed that he ignored a call from the US Vice President Vice President JD Vance on the night of May 9, as he was engaged with military leadership amid the final phase of the anti-terror operation. The Vice President had warned Modi about a possible major Pakistani retaliation. “I told him clearly, if Pakistan is planning such a thing, we will crush them. Goli ka jawab gola se degey,” Modi declared.

Highlighting India’s unwavering resolve, the Prime Minister said that on May 7, the Indian Armed Forces had publicly announced their objective, to destroy terrorist infrastructure. “If Pakistan had any sense, they would not have stood by terrorists. But our forces gave a reply that generations of Pakistan will remember. They brought Pakistan to its knees,” he said.

Modi claimed that the ferocity of India’s response forced Pakistan to seek relief. “Pakistan called up our DGMO and begged us to stop. They said they could not bear it anymore,” he noted. The Prime Minister added that India had made its stance clear at the May 7 press briefing, that objectives had been achieved, and any further provocation would invite a heavy price.
In a scathing attack on the Congress party, Modi accused it of politicising national security and even relying on Pakistan for political narratives. “Today, India is becoming Atmanirbhar. But Congress has to import issues from Pakistan. They were shaping their politics even in the murder of innocent people in Pahalgam,” he said.
Referring to Congress’s early criticism just days after the April 22 terror attack, Modi said, “They started asking, ‘Where is the 56-inch chest?’ ‘Where is Modi?’ ‘Modi has failed.’ They were playing politics over the blood of innocents.”
Reiterating the strategic doctrine established through Operation Sindoor, Modi underlined three key takeaways: “One, if there is a terrorist attack on India, we will respond in our own method, on our conditions and on our time. Two, no nuclear blackmail will work now. And three, India will no longer differentiate between terrorists and governments that support them.”
With Operation Sindoor, Modi said, India has made it clear that it will dictate the terms of engagement against terrorism, and not be constrained by global expectations or nuclear threats.
