Bastar: In a major blow to outlawed CPI [Maoist], as many as 66 Maoists including 27 female cadres have surrendered before security forces in separate districts of Chhattisgarh, said police on July 24.
Those who surrendered arms before the officials were fed up with internal rifts and the hollow ideology of Naxals. They were also inspired by the government run welfare schemes.
The surrendered Maoists were carrying a whopping cumulative bounty of Rs 2.5 crore as announced by the state.
According to details, 25 among the surrendered Maoists carrying a cumulative reward of Rs 1.15 crore announced their return to mainstream in state’s Bijapur district.
One of the surrender cadre was identified as Ramanna Erpa alias Jagdish, a member of the special zonal committee and Odisha state committee of the unlawful CPI[Maoist]. Erpa was carrying a reward of Rs 25 lakh as announced by the government.
13 Maoists surrender arms in Kanker
Meanwhile as many as 13 cadres of the banned group turned themselves and surrender before the authorities in Kanker districts.
Those parted ways with the Maoist group includes of Mainu Negi alias Karia, a DVC member carrying a reward of Rs 8 lakh and Manglu alias Arun Komra, commander of the military company no 1. Komra was said to be active in the Maoist outfit since 2003 and carrying a bounty of Rs 10 lakh on his head.
The surrendered Maoists were all involved in carrying out various unlawful activities on behalf of the proscribed group.
33 Maoists return to mainstream in Narayanpur, Sukma and Dantewada
In likewise developments as many as 33 Maoists surrender before the authorities in Bastar’s Dantewada, Sukma and Narayanpur districts.
Among the surrendered cadres who turned themselves before officials in Naraynapur are Vatti Ganga alias Mukesh, a former in-charge of the Maoist’s Uttar Bastar technical division team and DVC member, Lakhma Lekam, section commander platoon number 1 and Rina Kursam alias section deputy commander platoon no 1, all carrying bounties of Rs 8 lakh each.
All the surrendered Maoists have been provided with an immediate financial aid of Rs 50000 each and will be rehabilitated as per the provisions made in the surrender cum victim rehabilitation policy announced by the state government.
New dawn of development in Bastar, says CM Sai
Hailing the development, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Thursday said that ‘The night of Naxalism is fading, and a new dawn of development is rising in Bastar.
CM Sai underscored that as many as 1570 Maoists have returned to mainstream in the past 18 months, expressing faith in the state’s surrender and rehabilitation policy.
“This is the result of the positive impact of our government’s policies and good governance,” he noted.
The CM stated that this has become possible as the efforts of the double-engine government are not limited to security measures alone.
“Along the security camps, we have expanded basic amenities like roads, electricity, drinking water and transportation in remote areas of Bastar and are delivering welfare schemes to the last miles,” he said.
He added “The state government’s policy of ‘Puna Margem; Rehabilitation to Renewal’ is a resolve for bright future for Bastar and the government is committed to shaping the future of Naxalites.”
