According to the report, the victims were students of Mount Carmel School, aged between 6 and 8. The school was located on the premises of the Baptist Church’s association. But there was no security in the girls’ hostel of the school.

The rape accused was engaged as a construction labourer on the campus. He entered the minor girls’ hotel once, as there was no security. That day, he molested a minor girl and repeated the same the next day. As per locals, he molested over a dozen minor girls in the span of 15-20 days.

The incident came to light when the minor student complained of abdominal pain, and they were taken to nearby hospitals. Doctors confirmed sexual assaults of the minor victims. The terrified parents lodged an FIR at the Roying police station, and after an investigation, the Bangladeshi-origin boy was arrested. But after knowing the intensity of the crime, hundreds of parents and locals gathered in front of the police station. The Ired mob stormed into Roying police station and took the accused out of the lockup and lynched him to death. The full identity of the deceased accused is yet to be revealed by the police.

The Christian missionary school was immediately closed by the Lower Dibang deputy commissioner for improper administration. Locals demand a proper investigation against the school management for their negligence and for not providing security in the hostel where more than 25 minor girls were residing.
