In a shocking case that has left Bengaluru residents outraged, a man named Shamshuddin (33), originally from Assam, has been arrested on charges of brutally murdering a woman he was living with and heartlessly discarding her body in a BBMP garbage truck. The horrific crime took place in the Channammanakere Achchakattu police station limits, where the couple had been residing for the past several months under the guise of a peaceful live-in relationship.
The victim, Asha, aged 40, a native of Bengaluru, trusted Shamshuddin enough to share a home and life with him. Tragically, her trust was repaid with an act of unspeakable cruelty that not only ended her life but also desecrated her dignity, even in death. According to police, Shamshuddin suffocated Asha to death during a heated argument and then transported her lifeless body more than 20 kilometres on his bike, only to dump it like garbage in a municipal waste truck. This act can only be described as utterly inhuman and depraved.
House owner Manjunath, who had rented the couple their home, stated that Asha and Shamshuddin had been living here as husband and wife for the last six months. They were from different communities. He was a Muslim, and she was a Hindu, however, but they lived peacefully. I never imagined something so brutal could happen inside my property. We came to know the incident on Sunday morning only.‘’
Neighbours say the couple’s life appeared ordinary from the outside. Asha worked at a private mall to support herself, while Shamshuddin worked for a company that manufactured housekeeping products and occasionally took on delivery jobs. They were known to introduce themselves as a married couple and rarely caused any trouble. But behind closed doors, trouble was brewing.
Recent reports suggest that arguments have become increasingly common in households. Neighbours and the house owner say Asha was spending long hours talking on the phone late into the night, which became a point of conflict. According to investigators, this led to frequent clashes that tragically escalated to murder.
While disagreements between couples are sadly not uncommon, it takes a deeply disturbed mind to turn a domestic quarrel into a calculated killing — and then to dispose of a woman’s body with the same disregard one might have for trash is nothing short of monstrous. That Shamshuddin could carry her lifeless body for 20 kilometres, pack it into a municipal garbage truck, and vanish into the night.
When a resident spotted strands of hair while dumping garbage late at night, they alerted the police. Officers, including South Division DCP Lokesh B. Jagalasar, rushed to the spot and recovered the body. Forensic teams and a dog squad were deployed to collect evidence. CCTV footage from nearby streets helped the police trace the bike used in the crime, leading to Shamshuddin’s swift arrest within 20 hours.
DCP Jagalasar said, “ We alerted by local residents that a body of woman found in garbage truck.It was later identified as Pushpa, also known as Asha, a resident of Hulimavu. Both the accused and the deceased worked in the same company. Shamshuddin, despite being married in Assam, had entered into a live-in relationship with Asha in Bengaluru. A quarrel between them appears to have turned deadly.”
