In a shocking revelation that has sparked a nationwide uproar in Pakistan, noted security analyst Imtiaz Gul has claimed that the strategically vital Nur Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi is effectively under the control of the United States, with even senior officers of the Pakistan Army denied access to its operations. The viral claim comes just days after India’s precision strike on the same base during Operation Sindoor, carried out in response to the brutal Pahalgam terror attack.
Gul’s claims, made in a video that has been widely circulated on social media, suggest that American aircraft frequently operate out of the Nur Khan Airbase, raising suspicions about secretive military arrangements between Washington and Islamabad. According to Gul, these operations are conducted with near-complete opacity, with little known about the aircraft’s missions, cargo, or objectives. “Even senior Pakistan Army officers are not permitted to interfere,” Gul said, implying that the base functions as a shadow outpost of American interests within Pakistan’s most secure military zone.

The Nur Khan Airbase, located at Chaklala in Rawalpindi, lies dangerously close to several of Pakistan’s most sensitive military installations, including the Strategic Plans Division, which oversees the country’s nuclear weapons and the General Headquarters (GHQ) of the Pakistan Army. The base houses vital assets, including C-130 transport aircraft, airborne surveillance systems, VIP transport fleets, and military drones.
India’s airstrike on Nur Khan during Operation Sindoor has now taken on new dimensions. Indian strike was a well-planned precision assault targeting hangars, radar stations, and operational runways. The attack disrupted key Pakistani air capabilities, destroying mobile command units, surveillance aircraft, and transport squadrons, degrading nearly 20% of Pakistan’s air force infrastructure. The use of high-precision munitions also exposed glaring weaknesses in Pakistan’s air defence systems, which failed to detect or intercept the incoming ballistic missiles.

Satellite imagery post-strike confirmed the destruction of a 7,000-square-foot complex near the runway, debunking earlier Pakistani claims of minimal damage. Crater impacts were observed near fortified underground facilities, believed to house nuclear-related or high-value assets. Additionally, the strike crippled mobile control centres and VIP transport logistics, creating a major setback for Pakistan’s strategic air mobility.
The silence from Pakistan’s top brass regarding both the American control claim and the post-strike situation has further fuelled speculation and concern.
So far, neither the Pakistani government nor the military has issued an official response to Gul’s explosive claims. However, the implications are far-reaching. If true, the claim that a US-run airbase in the heart of Pakistan’s military nerve centre was targeted by India marks a historic low for Pakistani sovereignty and a strategic blow to its military pride.
