“A nation cannot become strong without empowering its Matrishakti,” stated Sandhya Tai Tipre, Akhil Bharatiya Seva Pramukh of the Rashtra Sevika Samiti. Speaking at the valedictory function of the Odisha Prant’s 15-day Prant Shikshya Varg, organised by the Rashtra Sevika Samiti, she highlighted the essential role of Matrishakti in nation-building.
The event took place at the Utkal Vipanna Sahayata Samiti in Bhubaneswar and marked the conclusion of the training session held from May 17 to June 2. In her address to participants and dignitaries, Tipre emphasised that it is the mother who gives birth, nurtures, instils values, and safeguards the future generation. “The mother is not merely a biological presence but the embodiment of divine power – Jagatjanani,” she remarked. “To strengthen our nation, we must cultivate empowered mothers.”
Tipre elaborated that this inner strength arises not from external sources but through the disciplined development of body, mind, and intellect. “This requires awakening the inner consciousness (chaitanya shakti), which lies dormant within all of us. It is the mother who plays a crucial role in awakening it,” she added.
The Rashtra Sevika Samiti, she noted, strives to nurture three core ideals – motherhood (matrutva), leadership (netrutva), and responsibility (kartutva). “Any action taken without the nurturing spirit of motherhood lacks coherence and emotional depth,” she remarked. Referring to India’s cultural roots, she observed, “The word maa evokes profound emotional and spiritual sentiments, unlike the Western term mommy. We must aspire to embody the qualities of mothers like Sita Mata – filled with compassion, strength, and sacrifice.”
According to Tipre, a child becomes a reflection of what the mother thinks and believes. “If we wish to build a strong nation, we must cultivate selfless, nurturing, and dedicated mothers who create, protect, and nourish without seeking personal gain.” However, she stressed that motherhood alone is insufficient; a mother must also be capable of action. “Without kartutva, even motherhood remains incomplete,” she asserted.
In homes, mothers expertly manage every responsibility and understand the unique nature of each family member. Their aim is always to guide each member toward growth. Therefore, the spirit of kartutva must be an integral aspect of motherhood.
Furthermore, Tipre underscored the importance of leadership. “Responsibility without leadership is ineffective,” she stated, citing Rani Lakshmibai as a historical example of maternal leadership. “India needs more Matrishakti like her, and for that, the matri shakti of Bharat must be awakened.”
Tipre highlighted that the Rashtra Sevika Samiti will celebrate 90 years of service in 2026. “Over these decades, we have worked towards developing matrutva, kartutva, and netrutva among Matrishakti. However, the mission is far from complete. We must reach every individual in society with our message,” she concluded. She advocated for grassroots initiatives in character-building through the Samiti’s shakhas ensuring that those who do not attend these shakhas are still incorporated into these foundational values.
The 15-day Prant Shikshya Varg saw participation from 133 trainees across 22 districts of Odisha. A total of 12 shikshikas conducted sessions aimed at physical, mental, intellectual, and moral development. Additionally, four national-level and ten prant-level adhikaris attended the camp, providing valuable guidance and insights.
The Prant Shikshya Varg’s curriculum included physical training such as yoga and dand, while intellectual sessions covered topics like national pride, patriotism, cultural identity, and tradition. The aim was to promote the all-round development of the participants and prepare them for societal leadership.
A grand Path Sanchalan (route march) was organised on May 31 in Bhubaneswar. Starting from the Ram Mandir, the march passed through Ashok Nagar and concluded at the Shishu Mandir in Kharavel Nagar, symbolising unity, discipline, and dedication.
The valedictory event was attended by several key figures from the Odisha unit of the Rashtra Sevika Samiti, including Prant Karyavahika Smt. Bharati Baishakh, Sah Karyavahika Dr. Kavita Rath, and Smt. Baijayanti Rana, along with other senior officials. More than 30 prabandhak sisters contributed to the smooth functioning of the camp.
