‘Let army come, I will…’: JeM terrorist Amir Nazir Wani rejects mother’s call to surrender before encounter

A video has emerged showing Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist Amir Nazir Wani rejecting his mother's emotional plea to surrender, just moments before being killed in an encounter in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. Holding an AK-47, Wani responded, "Let the army come forward, then I will see"

A chilling video has surfaced showing the final conversation between Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist Amir Nazir Wani and his mother, just moments before an encounter with security forces in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. In the video, Wani’s mother pleads with him to surrender, but the terrorist, holding an AK-47, defiantly replies, “Let the army come forward, then I will see.”

The video, which has since gone viral on social media, captures Wani sitting with a weapon, speaking to his mother and sister via a video call. The call took place inside a house where Wani was hiding, just before the gunfight broke out. His mother can be heard repeatedly urging him to surrender to the security forces, but Wani remains unyielding, expressing his readiness to face the army.

In the call, Wani also spoke with the sister of another terrorist, Asif Ahmed Sheikh, who was later killed in the same encounter.

The encounter took place in the Nader, Tral area of Pulwama on Thursday (May 15) morning. Acting on specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of terrorists, security forces launched an operation. In the ensuing gunfight, three JeM terrorists, including Amir Nazir Wani, Asif Ahmed Sheikh, and Yawar Ahmed Bhat, were killed.

All three terrorists were linked to the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed, a proscribed terror outfit responsible for several attacks in the region. Following the encounter, Jammu and Kashmir Inspector General of Police (IGP) VK Birdi stated that authorities are investigating whether the slain terrorists were involved in the Pahalgam terror attack that occurred on April 22.

This video is of the encounter going on today in Tral, Kashmir.

The video has sparked discussions on social media, with many expressing sadness over how terrorism has destroyed lives and families. As investigations continue, the security apparatus in the region remains on high alert, determined to root out remaining militant elements.

Jaish-e-Mohammed, a Pakistan-based terrorist group, has been involved in numerous attacks on Indian soil. It remains a major security threat, with its operatives frequently targeting security forces in Kashmir. The killing of three of its members in Pulwama is seen as a significant success for the anti-terrorism operations in the region.

Authorities are now focusing on identifying the network that facilitated the militants’ movement and hideout, as well as verifying their involvement in past terror attacks.
