A massive public outrage rally was organised by Nari Suraksha Manch on March 26 to protest the brutal murder of Komal Gautam in Sundar Nagari, East Delhi. The rally, which began at Seema Puri Police Station and concluded at L Block MCD Flats, Sundar Nagari, saw participation from hundreds of people across different communities, including a significant number of women demanding justice.
Holding banners and posters, protesters chanted slogans such as “We will not tolerate it anymore, we will change it,” emphasising that society would no longer remain silent against rising atrocities. Protesters also appealed to the media and YouTubers to push for a ‘Love Jihad’ law in Delhi, similar to Uttar Pradesh, and demanded the harshest punishment for Komal’s killers.
Addressing the gathering, Nari Suraksha Manch activists highlighted the increasing number of such crimes in the capital, stating that in the past year alone, over 10 cases of brutal crimes against women have been reported. They cited instances such as the Sadar Bazaar case, where a girl was allegedly trapped in a fake love affair and raped for five years, and the Nangloi incident, where Sonia was murdered in broad daylight.
The protesters submitted a memorandum to the Seema Puri Police Station, demanding swift justice and a strict law to curb such crimes in the future. Over 1,000 people participated in the rally, including Annapurna Garg, Jyoti Baliyan, Manjari Agarwal, Ashok Kumar, Neelam Pahwa, Sachin Kumar, Jai Bhagwan, and Jyoti Jain.
