M. Mukesh, CPM MLA and Malayalam film actor, has been charge-sheeted for sexual offences following a complaint from an actress from Aluva, near Kochi. The charge sheet, submitted before the Ernakulam Judicial Magistrate Court, contains digital evidence—WhatsApp chats and emails—proving the allegations. Witness statements and circumstantial evidence further substantiate the charges.

According to the charge sheet, Mukesh lured the actress with promises of membership in AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists) before sexually exploiting her at multiple locations. The CPM MLA now faces charges of sexual assault and exploitation, and the victim’s statement has been recorded under CrPC 164. However, Mukesh enjoys anticipatory bail, shielding him from immediate arrest.

Meanwhile, BJP has demanded his immediate resignation, staging protests outside his residence in Kollam on February 3. Protesters condemned CPM’s shameless defense of their tainted MLA, calling Mukesh an insult to Kollam’s voters.

Adding to his disgrace, Mukesh has also been charge-sheeted in another sexual abuse case in Wadakkancherry, Thrissur district. Another senior actor, Maniyanpilla Raju, faces similar charges for sexual assault and exploitation during a film shoot in Fort Kochi.

The CPM, known for safeguarding its comrades under the garb of internal inquiries, has predictably closed ranks around Mukesh. The party’s modus operandi is clear: when a member is accused, they set up their own ‘commissions,’ exonerate the accused, and declare the matter settled—a mockery of justice that Kerala has seen time and again.

In Kerala, there is a long history of certain leaders masquerading as Communists have exploited both women and wealth, shielding themselves under the cover of political power.
