Previously, a large mandate in every election for Nehru Gandhi’s Congress was the norm, but it has become a nightmare for Rahul Gandhi and other dynastic parties to win elections. The rising literacy rate, increased understanding of national concerns, and the true face of Congress are being seen by the people of our wonderful country. However, the Gandhi family and dynastic political parties are hesitant to accept the reality. They continue to believe that it is their inherent right to rule the states and nations, and when this has not occurred since 2014, they blame technologically improved electoral processes and government institutes without considering the facts. The drama surrounding ballot paper voting in Marakadwadi village, Maharashtra, is an affront to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s constitution. No political party or individual has the right to disrespect the constitution for selfish reasons.
Logical explanation why EVM cannot be hacked or altered as needed.
If EVM hacking is conceivable, has the mighty Congress led by Sonia Gandhi permitted PM candidate Narendra Modi to win the 2014 Lok Sabha elections by a huge majority? If EVM hacking is conceivable, how come the BJP, which was aiming for 400 or more seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha election, only got 240 seats, which is less than the simple majority of 272 seats? If EVM hacking is conceivable, why did the BJP lose Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, West Bengal, Punjab, and Jammu Kashmir by such a large margin. These are the key states for the BJP to win. Logically, if we consider all of these arguments, the INDI alliance’s false narrative appears to be unable to admit failure.
Why was the adoption of EVM necessary?
During the 1990s, Election Commissioner T.N. Seshan recognized the importance of combating ballot fraud. He pushed for the development of EVMs as a potential answer. While political parties have expressed alarm, no substantial evidence has been offered to support EVM tampering. However, the issue persists. Prior to the introduction of the EVM, Ballot papers were widely used to cast votes in Indian elections. The use of ballot papers was time-consuming, prone to malpractices such as booth-capturing and ballot-box stuffing, resulted in a large number of invalid votes due to incorrect marking, was subject to lengthy counting drills, more disputes, and delayed result announcements, and was an ecologically demanding and non-environmentally friendly method. In 2017, when the Election Commission of India asked all political parties to prove hacking or tampering of EVM machines, no political party was able to do so, demonstrating that the allegations made by the INDI alliance after losing the election are merely a drama to deceive voters and create a trust deficit in the constitution made by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.
Previously, many votes were canceled owing to paper folding and voters slightly changing the position of their stamps. Many illiterate persons or trembling hands pushed their stamps slightly on or outside the box’s border, rendering votes invalid. In various locations, political Gundas and anti-social elements exchanged the boxes. Counting occurred using a mannual procedure, which increased the likelihood of inaccurate counting. Very extensive and time-consuming process, with a high risk of illegal or unauthorised work.
However, in comparison, EVM has significant and noticeable advantages.
i.Voting with EVMs is significantly simpler and more voter-friendly because the voter only needs to push the button on the BU to vote for his preferred candidate.
ii. There are no invalid votes in the EVM system, however with the ballot paper system, a considerable number of ballot papers were invalidated, and in some circumstances, the number of invalid ballot papers exceeded the elected candidate’s winning margin.
iii. It is auditable, transparent, accurate, secure, and reduces human error.
iv. It provides faster results in hours, which is especially important in huge nations like India with Constituencies of several hundred thousand voters, where counting used to take days or weeks.
v. EVM voting also saves time, energy, and money, not to mention millions of trees. Previously, crores of ballot papers were printed, needing hundreds of tonnes of paper, and the production of ballot papers had to be conducted in a huge number of government presses for very lengthy periods, employing hundreds of election officials in each constituency.
vii. Furthermore, the innovative use of advances in modern electronics for voting in the country serves as a full endorsement of the creativity, inventiveness, and pioneering acumen of Indian society as a whole, as well as serving to improve the country’s image and prestige on the international stage. As can be plainly seen, the weight of accumulated comparative experience in conducting elections for over 7 decades, both with ballot papers and EVMs, as well as the numerous evident benefits of using EVMs, make EVMs the preferred method of casting votes.
•The usage of ballot papers was clearly a traditional, antiquated, and archaic voting procedure. To address the aforementioned issues with the previous practice of using vote papers, as well as to keep up with technological improvements, the ECI proposed the idea of an EVM in 1977.
How have various courts reacted to EVM machine allegations?
Both the Karnataka High Court and the Madras High Court stated that using EVMs in elections has significant advantages over the traditional ballot paper/ballot box election system. The Hon’ble Madras High Court further clearly denied any allegations of EVM tampering. The Madras High Court made the following observations:
“There is also no risk of introducing viruses or vulnerabilities because the EVMs cannot be compared to personal computers. As previously mentioned, computer programming has nothing to do with EVMs. The computer would have intrinsic limits due to its Internet connections, and by design, it may allow for program modification, but EVMs are autonomous units, and the program in an EVM is fundamentally distinct.”
Since 2001, the issue of possible tampering of EVM has been raised before various High Courts. Some of these are mentioned below:
(a) Madras High Court-2001
(b) Kerala High Court-2002
(c) Delhi High Court-2004
(d) Karnataka High Court- 2004
(e) Bombay High Court (Nagpur Bench)-2004
Analysis: After considering various aspects of technological soundness and administrative measures involved in the implementation of EVMs, all of the aforementioned High Courts concluded that EVMs are trustworthy, dependable, and completely tamperproof. In several of these cases, the Supreme Court dismissed petitioners’ appeals against High Court orders.
Maharashtra result
The recent allegations about Maharashtra Assembly election results by the INDI alliance have been cross-checked at several locations as demanded by the lost candidate, and the VVPAT slips and polled votes exactly matched. However, Rahul Gandhi, Sharad Pawar, and other INDI alliance leaders are still making an issue without accepting defeat wholeheartedly. The people of our magnificent nation will not accept any such effort that is completely phony and violates the constitution. It is time for the Gandhi family and other dynasties to reflect and strive truly for the welfare of the people, rather than just for vote Bank. This is the most effective technique to direct energy rather than employing false narratives. Let us believe in the intelligence of voters and stop working for greedy needs.
