Bhubaneswar : Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Bhubaneswar today to participate in the three-day DG Conference. Speaking at an event organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party, PM Modi strongly criticised the opposition, accusing them of misleading the nation and conspiring against the country due to their prolonged absence from power.
He stated, “Those who consider power their birthright have been out of the central government for over a decade. This frustration has driven them to mislead the people and act against the country. Political opposition based on principles is natural in a democracy. Differences in policy and decisions are expected, and political parties engage with the public to present their perspectives. However, in recent years, a troubling shift has been observed. The opposition has begun to disregard constitutional values and the essence of democracy.”
PM Modi alleged that when the lies of such parties do not succeed, they concoct another major falsehood. The objective of these parties is to mislead the people and seize power so that the group that has looted the country can, under various guises, once again engage in such practices.
The Prime Minister emphasised that the opposition’s anger has fuelled a campaign of misinformation. “Their decades-long strategy of spreading lies and false narratives has intensified. This has created challenges for the nation, and every citizen dedicated to democracy must remain vigilant and expose their lies,” he added.
Referring to the opposition’s campaign in 2019, PM Modi remarked, “Back then, they accused the ‘chowkidar’ of being a thief. But as 2024 approaches, that narrative has faded because they have lost their footing. Their sole aim is to mislead the people to regain power and continue the exploitation they have indulged in since independence.”
PM Modi expressed pride in Odisha hosting the DG Conference for the first time in its century-long history, highlighting the state’s growing significance. The conference has been held since the British period, but this marks the first time it is being hosted in Odisha. Senior police officials from across the country will seek the blessings of Lord Jagannath during their visit, he mentioned.
The Navy Day celebrations will also take place in Odisha’s Puri. The entire state will be at the centre of global attention. In January 2025, the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas will be held in Odisha, providing the people of the state with an opportunity to welcome guests from various parts of the world.
“When such visitors return, they will take back good memories, which will boost tourism. We want to prioritise Odisha. Such events are a testament to this,” said PM Modi, urging for it to be an even greater success than the G20 event.
He stated that these events would attract global attention to Odisha and enhance its tourism potential.
The Prime Minister acknowledged the strong bond between the central government and Odisha, stating, “Odisha’s citizens resonate deeply with the development initiatives led by the BJP. Despite our linguistic differences, our emotions and intentions have always connected us to the people of this state.”
He called upon BJP workers and residents to ensure that Bhubaneswar is clean and well-prepared for upcoming international events.
Reflecting on his recent experience at the Odisha Parv in Delhi, he expressed gratitude for the warmth and love he received from the Odia community.
PM Modi paid homage to the sacred soil of Odisha. “I bow to the land of Baba Lingaraj and the divine abode of Mahaprabhu Jagannath,” he said.
The event was attended by Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan, Jual Oram, Ashwini Vaishnaw, BJP state president Manmohan Samal, and several senior leaders and party workers.
