RANCHI: Days after the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) led alliance emerged victorious in the state assembly polls, former Chief Minister of the state and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Babu Lal Marandi has labelled serious allegations against the alleged workers of the winning alliance.

According to the allegations labelled by the BJP stalwart, a man identified as Imam Mirja, a resident of Mohammadpur village under Ranga police station limits of Sahibganj district has been tortured mentally and assaulted for voting for the BJP in the recently concluded elections.

The victim in complaint has alleged that a number of individuals identified as Mehboob Sheikh, Majrool Sheikh, Munna Sheikh and others have been torturing him mentally for voting for the BJP. They have also threatened Imam for dire consequences along dragging him out of the locality, citing that they now have full controll over the administration.

In one of the video shared by Marandi, a political representative could also be heard alleging the accused for stone pelting on Mirja’s house.

Sharing the pictures and other details of the alleged post poll violence, Marandi in a long post on social media platform X said that “after Land Jihad and Love Jihad, Jharkhand has now come under the grip of stone pelters.”

Such is the situation that stones are being pelted, lathis (wooden sticks) are being used, houses are being demolished, people are being beaten up on the basis of their votes,” said Marandi while requesting the Sahibganj Deputy Commissioner to investigate the matter and punish the culprits.

Notably, JMM led alliance secured a comfortable majority in the 81-seat assembly after they defeated the BJP led alliance in the recently concluded state assembly polls. The swearing-in ceremony for the new government is likely to be held on Thursday, November 28 in State’s capital.
