In a deeply disturbing and grisly case, the dismembered body of 50-year-old beautician Anita Chaudhary was found buried at the residence of Ghulamuddin, also known as Gul Mohammad, the primary suspect in the murder. The incident has come to light in Jodhpur, Rajasthan and sparked demands for justice, raising concerns about rising crime and violence in the region. The investigation, led by the Jodhpur police, has revealed chilling details about the crime, intensifying the search for Ghulamuddin and a second suspect, Tayyab Ansari.
Anita was reported missing on October 27 by her husband, Manmohan Chaudhary, after she failed to return home from her beauty parlour, Sunshine Beauty Parlour, in Sardarpura.
What says the complaint?
In his complaint to the police, Manmohan mentioned that Anita was last seen visiting her brother’s home on the same day she disappeared, following a call from a woman named Sunita Sen, who also ran a beauty parlour nearby and was Anita’s friend. Sunita requested Anita to come to her shop, setting off a chain of events that would lead to Anita’s brutal murder.
According to police records, Anita left her shop and was last seen in a taxi driven by Mukesh Tanwar, heading toward Ghulamuddin’s residence, where she reportedly entered his home, never to be seen again.
Recovery of the body in six pieces
Days of desperate searching ended in horror on October 30 when Ghulamuddin’s wife disclosed to authorities the grim location of Anita’s remains behind their house. Acting on her tip, police arrived at the scene, where they discovered Anita’s body buried in a shallow grave, her remains severely mutilated.
Police investigation found that the body had been dismembered and buried in two plastic bags, a detail that has shocked both the investigators and the local community. The exact motives and sequence of events remain unclear, but what has emerged paints a chilling portrait of violence and malice.
According to SHO Dilip Singh Rathore, surveillance records and witness testimonies suggest that Anita travelled by autorickshaw to the Gangana area, where Ghulamuddin’s residence is located. The autorickshaw driver confirmed dropping her off near the house.
Further analysis of phone records implicated Ghulamuddin as the last known contact with Anita before her untimely demise. As police investigated the scene at Ghulamuddin’s house, his wife reportedly informed them that she had been staying with her sister for three days and was unaware of her husband’s actions until she returned home.
Upon her arrival, Ghulamuddin confessed to her about killing Anita and burying her remains in the backyard. This led authorities to dig up a 12-foot pit in the yard, where they found Anita’s dismembered body parts, wrapped and buried separately to conceal the crime. The head was severed, and so were the limbs and hands; the body was recovered in six separate pieces and stuffed in different bags. Reports also mentioned that the parts were grounded before being dumped.

SHO Rathore commented on the grizzly scene: “The way the remains were wrapped and buried indicates a calculated effort to hide the crime.” The dismembered body has since been sent to AIIMS for a post-mortem examination to provide further forensic insights.
Family indicates a planned murder
Manmohan Chaudhary, Anita’s husband, was overcome with anguish as he detailed the events leading up to the discovery of her remains. He recounted the last few days leading up to Anita’s disappearance, describing multiple interactions Anita had with various individuals.
Sunita, a close friend, had contacted Manmohan on several occasions, warning that Tayyab Ansari, another acquaintance of Anita’s, might harm her. These calls have raised questions about a potential conspiracy, suggesting that more than one person may have been involved in the gruesome crime.
Anita’s family remains resolute in their demand for a full investigation, pressing authorities to retrieve call logs and other digital records to establish a clear timeline and uncover all accomplices involved.
Case details
An FIR (number: 263/2024) has since been registered at Jodhpur’s Sardarpura Police Station on October 31, with charges filed against Ghulamuddin and other implicated individuals under various sections. The accused have been booked under sections 103 (1), 238 (B) 61(2), 87 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Beyond Ghulamuddin, the investigation has now extended to his wife, who is suspected of being an accomplice in the disposal of Anita’s body. Investigators believe that she may have assisted her husband in burying the remains, raising suspicions of her involvement in a larger conspiracy.

Protests and calls for action

He demanded the immediate suspension of the Sardarpura police station officials, alleging collusion with the accused. Beniwal, along with members of the Jat community, insisted on a transparent and thorough investigation, urging authorities to expedite justice for Anita and ensure accountability for all those involved.
Police action
In the latest development, the police have identified Ghulamuddin’s wife, Abida, as an accomplice in Anita’s murder. Abida reportedly admitted to knowing about the conspiracy and revealed to investigators that Anita was given a drink laced with medicine before she was killed.
DCP Rajarshi Verma confirmed Abida’s involvement and announced her arrest, stating that she was aware of the details leading to Anita’s death. Verma added that the police have detained approximately 18 individuals for questioning and are actively pursuing leads to locate Ghulamuddin, who remains at large. Authorities believe they have identified the direction of his escape and are intensifying efforts to capture him.
