A pseudo organisation which calls itself the Hindus for Human Rights (HHFR) wrote to London Mayor Sadiq Khan seeking to cut off all ties with Hindu institutions like the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) and Chinmaya Mission.
The HHFR in its letter to the Mayor of London expressed sadness that these Hindu institutions had helped in organising the Deepawali event of the Mayor of London. The Hindu institutions had taken part in organising the Deepawali celebrations at London’s Trafalgar Square on October 27. This has ticked off the HHFR, an organisation that is known to have sided with both anti-India elements and terrorist outfits.
A “Hindu” group calling on the Mayor of London to “cut off all ties” with among the most prominent Hindu institutions in the UK, @BAPS and @ChinmayaMission, because they helped organize a #Diwali program.
That’s right…attacking Hindu Mandirs over #Diwali on #Diwali.

The director of the HHFR, Rajiv Sinha in his letter to the London Mayor urged him to sever ties these Hindu organisations and seek new partners to lead the Deepawali celebrations in future. These Hindu organisations perform a whitewashing or supportive function of the Hindutva movement in India and UK, the HFFR said.
What you should know about HHFR
Going by the name, it seems as though it is an organisation which works for the betterment of the Hindus. However that is not the case.
While positioning itself as a champion of Hindus, it has been pursuing an agenda which is entirely counter-productive for the Hindus. One of its funders is the Tides Foundation, which is linked to the pro-Hamas rallies that were held in the US. Further the HFFR is known for siding with separatist and extremist groups which work against the cause of the Hindus.
Tides on the other hand has a dubious reputation as it funds pro-Hamas rallies and also organisations that work against the Hindus. The fact that the HFFR has received funds from the Tides Foundation goes on to suggest that the organisation is nothing but a wolf in sheep’s clothing. By adding the word Hindu to its organisation, it poses as though it is championing the cause of the Hindus. However it is part of a larger nexus which is aimed at acting against the legitimate cause of the Hindus.
The HFFR is based out of the United States and has often used Hindu symbols and teachings to further the narrative. However the members of the HFFR have criticised Hindu beliefs and practices.
The HFFR was formed in 2019 by the Indian American Muslim Council (IAMC) and the Organisation for Minotories of India. Together they went on to form the Alliance for Justice and Accountability .
The Alliance for Justice and Accountability has been at the forefront of leading protests against the visit by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Houston on September 22 2019. The co-founder of the HFFR, Sunit Vishwanath had also tried to create a false narrative on issues such as the National Register of Citizens (NRC).
The organisation even backed an anti-Hindu event called, Dismantling Global Hindutva conference. It was also part of a preparing a tool-kit during the visit by PM Modi to the US in 2023 June.
It may also be recalled that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was seen sitting next to Sunita Vishwanath during an event hosted by the Hudson Institute. India had even flagged the activities of the HFFR and in October 2023, X had withheld the account of the HFFR.
The HFFR has also organised press conferences and webinars in support of the likes of Umar Khalid, Anand Teltumbe, Sudha Bharadwaj, Father Stan Swamy and Sanjiv Bhat.
About the IAMC
The IAMC on the other hand is an Islamist organisation with ties to terror groups. The outfit is known to spread hate against Hindus and has run several sustained campaigns.
It has indulged in fear mongering about the Hindus in America. It has close ties to the Lashkar-e-Tayiba and Jamaat-e-Islami. It even had ties with the banned Students Islamic Movement of India or SIMI. The IAMC is backed by the Jamaat and has indulged in heavy lobbing against the Hindus in America.
It has been accused of paying money to those who push an anti-India and anti-Hindu narrative. It has even funded many organisations in the USA to get India blacklisted by the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom. In the year 2021, India slapped the IAMC under the provisions of the UAPA.
