A 20-year-old fruit seller from Dombivli, Thane, was arrested after a video showing his unhygienic behavior went viral, leading to widespread public anger. The fruit seller, identified as Ali Khan, was caught on video urinating into a plastic bag and continuing to sell fruits without following basic hygiene protocols.

The incident occurred in the Nilje area of Dombivli. As the video gained traction online, people expressed their outrage over the unsanitary act. It was reported that Ali Khan not only urinated into the plastic bag but also kept it on his fruit cart while continuing his sales.

Manpada police acted swiftly after receiving a complaint, arresting Ali Khan and charging him under sections 271, 272, and 296 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Section 271 pertains to negligent acts likely to spread infection of diseases dangerous to life, while section 272 relates to malignant acts that pose similar threats. Section 296 deals with acts of public obscenity. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter, while local civic authorities are preparing further actions against Khan.

A senior official from Manpada police station confirmed the arrest, stating that “the accused has been booked for endangering public health and engaging in obscene behavior.” He added that the authorities are taking the case very seriously given the gravity of the health risk posed by Khan’s actions.

The viral video has sparked a significant backlash on social media, with many people condemning the seller for violating basic hygiene practices, especially when public health concerns remain a priority. Residents in the Nilje area and across Thane expressed shock at the vendor’s disregard for cleanliness.

“The fact that someone could behave so carelessly, especially when dealing with food, is appalling,” said one local resident. “People trust street vendors, and this sort of act betrays that trust.”

This is not an isolated case of such a health violation. A similar incident took place in Ghaziabad earlier this year, where a juice vendor, identified as Aamir Khan, was caught mixing urine into juice served to his customers. The incident occurred at a juice shop named ‘Khushi Juice and Shake’ in Indirapuri Chowki, under Loni police station in Ghaziabad. Aamir Khan was allegedly seen mixing urine into the juice after receiving an order, but one of the customers caught him in the act.

Following this discovery, an enraged crowd gathered, beat up Aamir Khan, and handed him over to the police. Upon further investigation, the police found a plastic can containing human urine inside the shop. Aamir Khan later confessed to his crime and apologized to the public. He and his partner were arrested, and they faced similar charges of spreading infection and public obscenity.
