NEW DELHI: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) held a press conference to release its 11-point manifesto titled “My DU, My Manifesto” and its special logo for the upcoming Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections. This manifesto incorporates suggestions from thousands of students. The manifesto addresses crucial issues such as improving the admission process, examinations, curriculum, campus infrastructure, and results. It also focuses on implementing employment-oriented education, creating an inclusive and comprehensive grievance redressal system, and providing visionary leadership to ensure a positive and safe academic environment at Delhi University.

Under ABVP’s leadership, DUSU has undertaken key initiatives such as the introduction of U-Special buses for students, approval for new women’s hostels, laying the foundation for student activity centres, organizing internship programs, and addressing fundamental issues while strengthening women’s safety. The organisation remains committed to working for the holistic development of students in the future as well.

In its manifesto for postgraduate students, ABVP has proposed a “One Course, One Fee” structure, the formation of Internal Complaints Committees and Gender Sensitisation Cells in every college, the availability of gynaecologists and psychological counsellors, an integrated hostel allocation process for PG students, the appointment of coordinators to coordinate between University and college placement cells, and conduct of large-scale job fairs by them. The manifesto also includes a provision for a Student Representative Coordination Committee to ensure the safety of students living in off-campus hostels, increased scholarships for OBC/SC/ST students with adjustments for Dearness Allowance(DA), supplementary exams for final-year students, opportunity for viewing answer sheets at nominal price before applying for scrutiny, NCC programs for women in every college, and discounted metro passes for all students.

ABVP’s DUSU Presidential candidate, Rishabh Chaudhary, remarked, “ABVP’s strong and capable leadership in DUSU has earned the trust and support of students, and we have consistently worked in their interest. This year, we will continue our efforts to enhance the infrastructure of DU colleges, implement the ‘One Course, One Fee’ structure for PG courses, supplementary exams policy for final-year students, establish high-tech reading rooms in every college, effectively implement the National Education Policy (NEP), provide campus-wide Wi-Fi, introduce a single dashboard for grievance redressal, and organize job fairs through the placement cells, ultimately positioning DU at the top on the global stage.”

ABVP’s DUSU Vice-Presidential candidate, Bhanu Pratap Singh, stated, “The ABVP unit works year-round to address the concerns of students, while other student organizations only appear during election process. ABVP has a clear vision for skill development, internships, workshops, and the introduction of industry-oriented courses. We also aim to strengthen academic systems and encourage socially useful research. The trust students have placed in ABVP will surely lead to our victory on all four seats this year.”

ABVP’s DUSU Secretary candidate, Mitravinda Karnwal, said, “ABVP’s leadership has worked towards creating a positive atmosphere in DU and made considerable efforts for women’s empowerment. This year, we plan to ensure the availability of women hostels in every college, construct new hostels, form functional Internal Complaints Committees (ICC), provide sanitary napkin vending machines and incinerators in every college and women-hostel, and build accessible infrastructure and assistive technology systems for differently-abled students. We will also form a special grievance redressal and Coordination Committee for students living in off-campus hostels. The overwhelming support for ABVP is clear, and we are confident that we will secure all central panel seats.”

ABVP’s DUSU Joint-Secretary candidate, Aman Kapasia, added, “ABVP has left a significant impact on the minds of students through its continuous work for student welfare. Our leadership will focus on increasing scholarships for SC/ST/OBC students and indexing them to Dearness Allowance (DA), establishing East and West campuses of DU, fostering a mindful and meaningful student life, ensuring the availability of counsellors to address mental health issues, and setting up mindfulness centres. ABVP will continue to work towards strengthening both the students and the reputation of the university.”
