Another brutal gang rape in Assam has come to the limelight and once again the culprits are Islamists who in an inhuman act abducted and gang-raped a minor girl

Assam Police arrest the culprits involved in the heinous crime of committing gang rape

Guwahati: Two heinous incidents of gang rape of minor girls by Islamists within 24 hours jolted Assam. In the Nachbar-Buraighat area of Bihali in Sonitpur district, a group of construction labourers abducted an Adivasi girl on midnight of August 21 and brutally raped her. The accused Bangladeshi origin Muslims were engaged as masonry labour at a school construction site of a Kerala-based missionary group.

According to the information received, on the night of the 21st, at about 12 o’clock in the night, a 14-year-old Aduvasi girl  of Nachbar Buraighat area under Bihali police station was abducted by the gang of Muslim construction labours and they brutally raped her.

Sonitpur police detained 25 people suspected to be involved in the incident and arrested three main accused amongst them. The arrested were identified as- Mohd Zulood Hussain, Mohd Suraj Ali and Mohd Abdul Hussain. Police took the victim for necessary medical checkup and the victim is being given medical treatment and counselling.

On the other hand, the Sonitpur police have registered a case (73/2024) at the Bihali police station in connection with the gang rape and kidnapping crime that took place in the Buraighat area. A case were registered against the arrested prime accused under Bhartiya Nyay Samhita (BNS) 65(1)/ 62/76 and section 4 of the POCSO act. Arrested Mohd Zulood Hussain, Mohd Suraj Ali and Mohd Abdul Hussain had been produced in a local court and sent to judicial custody.

Assam police DGP GP Singh and minister Pijush Hazarika were asked by CM Himanta Biswa Sarma to visit Dhing area in Nagaon district where a minor Hindu girl was gangraped by three Islamist. Huge protest erupted in Dhing after the heinous crime. The victim is hospitalised in a critical condition. People demand justice and exemplary punishment for the criminals. So far police arrested one Tafazzul Islam and detained another one for questioning. CM Sarma condemned the brutal assault on the minor girls and instructed police for immediate investigation and arrest of culprits.
