The family of the 31-year-old trainee doctor, who was horrifically raped and killed at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, has recounted the devastating experience they faced upon discovering the details of the August 9 tragedy. Meanwhile, the BJP has accused the TMC Government of destroying evidence at the crime scene, further complicating the investigation.
In an interview, the family alleged that they were initially informed their daughter had died by suicide and were kept waiting outside the hospital for three hours before being allowed to see her body. The father of the trainee doctor revealed that when he first received a call from the hospital, the authorities claimed, “Our daughter has died by suicide and we must come immediately.” Initially, Kolkata Police suspected the death was a suicide but later revised their conclusion.
A relative who accompanied the parents to the hospital reported that the victim’s mother was utterly inconsolable after learning about her daughter.

“The parents begged the hospital authorities to let them see their daughter’s face, but they were still made to wait for three hours,” the relative said in the interview.
“After three hours, they finally let the father go in to see her body. He was only permitted to take a photo, which he showed us when he came out. She was unclothed, and her legs were spread at a 90-degree angle. This cannot happen unless the pelvic girdle breaks, which means she was torn apart,” the relative said.
Fast-track courts should not only punish the accused but also hold accountable those who attempted to cover up the horrific crime by labelling it as suicide. The CBI should pursue nothing less than the death penalty, she added.

BJP Accuses Mamata Banerjee of evidence tampering as renovations continue at RG Kar Hospital
BJP IT Cell National In-Charge Amit Malviya released images of damaged walls. She claimed, “This clearly shows that Mamata Banerjee has been systematically removing evidence and covering up the crime to protect those involved, who are speculated to be family members of influential TMC leaders.”
As CBI officials arrived in Kolkata on August 14 to investigate the brutal rape and murder of a 31-year-old doctor, images of ongoing renovations at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, the crime scene, began circulating online.
Amit Malviya quickly shared these images, highlighting a damaged wall in the Chest Medicine Department where the post-graduate trainee doctor was viciously raped and murdered by the now-arrested Sanjay Roy.

Malviya also criticised Bengal Chief Minister and TMC Supremo Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of using the renovation work at the crime scene to “destroy evidence.” Taking it to his official X handle, Malviya posted: “While West Bengal is seething with anger, given Mamata Banerjee’s apathy and Kolkata Police’s botched cover-up attempt, RG Kar Medical

A team of CBI officials, accompanied by forensic experts, arrived in Kolkata on Tuesday. The city police brought the evidence and forensic samples collected from the crime scene to the CBI office. The accused, Sanjay Roy, was also escorted to the CBI office and was taken by the national investigation team to the Chest Medicine section of RG Kar College.
BJP Bengal spokesperson Archana Majumdar has also expressed concern about the damaged walls near the crime scene at RG Kar College. Taking it to her official X handle, she wrote: “Serious concern! On August 14, healthcare services across West Bengal were heavily disrupted as doctors maintained their ‘ceasework’ in protest against the rape and murder of a female doctor.
What the Post-Mortem Report Revealed
The post-mortem report of the trainee doctor has disclosed that she suffered “genital torture.” It indicated that the accused, Sanjoy Roy, struck her with such force that her glasses shattered, causing shards to pierce her eyes. The report detailed, “There was bleeding from both her eyes and mouth, along with facial injuries. The victim also had bleeding from her private parts and injuries to her belly, left leg, neck, right hand, ring finger, and lips.”
The woman’s body was discovered in the seminar room of West Bengal’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on August 9 morning. Sanjoy Roy, an outsider known to frequent the hospital, was arrested on Saturday.
The report suggests that after severely assaulting and sexually attacking the trainee doctor, Roy killed her by throttling and smothering her. The estimated time of death is between 3 am and 5 am on August 9.
On August 13, the Calcutta High Court described the rape and murder of the doctor as “so gruesome.” While hearing petitions related to the case, which has sparked nationwide outrage, the court acknowledged that protesting doctors were justified in their emotional response. “We cannot gag the press… What assurance are you (the State) giving to doctors? They are hurt. The incident is so gruesome. They (doctors) are justified in expressing their emotions,” the court stated, according to Bar and Bench. The court has directed Dr Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of the hospital, to take a long leave following his resignation on Monday.
