The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on August 2, charge-sheeted two accused for their role in harbouring key conspirators in connection with the killing of BJP Yuva Morcha leader Praveen Nettaru.

The two are charged with harboring key conspirator Mustafa Paichar who conspired the killing of Nettaru, a district committee member of BJP Yuva Morcha. Nettaru was hacked to death with sharp weapons at a public place with an intention to strike terror amongst the people in 2022.

In this regard, Dakshina Kannada district police had registered a First Information Report on July 27, 2022 at Bellare police station in Karnataka.

Dakshina Kannada District and NIA had re-registered the case on August 4, 2022, under various provisions of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and India Penal Code (IPC).

So far 19 accused persons have been arrested in the case.

Mustafa Paichar, who was an absconding accused, was traced to his hide-out in Sakaleshpura area in Hassan district and was arrested along with the harbourer Mansoor Pasha on May 10 this year.

“Mustafa Paichar was the main conspirator in the case and was the master trainer of PFI Service Team in the State.

He had conspired, recced, and identified the target to be eliminated by the team,” said the NIA.

NIA said its investigation has revealed that Riyaz HY another accused chargesheeted today, had also harboured Mustafa Paichar.

“Riyaz HY was arrested by the NIA from Mumbai International Airport on June 3 this year while trying to abscond from India. They are charged with sections 120B and 212 of IPC and section 19 of UA(P) Act for their role in the instant case.

Investigation to trace out and arrest the remaining seven absconders in the case continues,” added the anti-terror agency.
