Kerala Government has decided to appoint K Vasuki IAS as the state’s Foreign Secretary; BJP hits back

Kerala Government has decided to appoint K Vasuki IAS as the state’s Foreign Secretary ! It is an extra ordinary appointment. According to country’s Constitution, Foreign Affairs or External Affairs is Union Government’s prerogative. In another words, this appointment is anti-Constitutional.

BJP Kerala State President K Surendran, in a press release, has termed the Pinarayi Vijayan government’s decision to appoint state’s own Foreign Secretary as anti-Constitutional. External Affairs is the Union’s Government’s jurisdiction. The state government’s move to get involved in it hints a dangerous initiative.

Surendran further said that Pinarayi Vijayan should not misunderstand that Kerala is an independent sovereign republic. Kerala Chief Minister has already been blamed in connection with the gold smuggling with UAE Consulate links and fund raising abroad. Protocol violations by the chief minister, ministers and Speaker had hit the headlines as serious controversies some time back. Former Finance Minister (in the first Pinarayi government) Thomas Isaac undergoes ED enquiry in connection with the money transactions in violation of the FCRA regulations under the camouflage of KIIFB (Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board). Dollar smuggling and Bharat currency smuggling in connection with the state government undergo investigations. Vadakkancherry Life Mission scam is another controversy.

Surendran wondered if the Foreign Secretary is appointed for safeguarding the financial dealings and interests of Pinarayi Vijayan in the Gulf countries.

Surendran further said that Pinarayi Vijayan’s new step is the blatant and naked violation of Federal rules. If it further develops Pianrayi may even go to the extent of establishing state’s own Consulate and appointing External Affairs Minister. Chief Minister should immediately cancel the appointment of the Foreign Secretary. Otherwise, it will be instrumental for the defile and demolition of country’s integrity and unity. Government, by these sorts of appointment, is going to aggravate the acute financial crisis the state undergoes

Political observers find the new appointment as a serious development. Kerala, even otherwise, is considered as the  safe haven of anti-national forces and religious terrorists. There are even hints of the discussions on separate South Bharat. A seminar on ‘Cutting the South’, held couple of years back, was an attempt in that direction. Therefore, right thinking people  observe the new development as a threat to the  country’s integrity and sovereignty.
