In adherence to West Bengal’s political tradition, miscreants, reportedly TMC workers, have been accused of killing the father of a BJP Karyakarta. This tradition highlights the incumbent party’s utilisation of workers to suppress challengers through violent means.

Expressing vehement discontent over ongoing political violence, @BJP4BENGAL took to social media platform X to highlight the murder of Gourhari Maity, allegedly at the hands of TMC workers. The victim’s son, Shashanka Maity, a BJP Karyakarta from Dhaipukuria Village in the Arjunnagar region, was purportedly targeted for elimination by the same group. @BJP4BENGAL’s social media handle on X further alleged that false cases have been falsely filed against Shashanka by Trinamool Congress (TMC).

In Arjunnagar, under the Bhupatinagar police station in the Kanthi organizational district, Trinamool miscreants beat a BJP worker’s father Gourhari Maity to death.

This incident underscores the volatile political landscape in West Bengal, where confrontations between rival party workers frequently escalate into violence. The BJP’s assertion of targeted attacks against its members adds fuel to the ongoing political tensions in the state.

“Around eleven o’clock on Tuesday night, a group of twenty to thirty armed miscreants allegedly backed by Trinamool Congress (TMC) attacked Shashanka Maity’s residence. They assaulted his mother, wife, and sister-in-law. In an attempt to intervene, Shashanka Maity’s father, Gourhari Maity, confronted the miscreants. They violently shoved him, causing him to fall and suffer injuries,” stated @BJP4BENGAL’s post on X.

According to the post, neighbours rushed to Gourhari Maity’s aid, but the attackers had already fled the scene. Gourhari Maity, a BJP Karyakarta and Shashanka Maity’s father was rushed to Mugberia Hospital nearby, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

@BJP4BENGAL’s page on X features additional stories detailing similar incidents of violence in West Bengal. Political analysts allege that political violence became a norm in West Bengal during the CPI (M) regime.

In a similar case, Organiser reported, Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition in West Bengal, informed the media about the death of a BJP Karyakarta, Sanjay Bera (42), under suspicious circumstances while in police custody. The incident, which Adhikari claims to be a case of police brutality, has reignited concerns over political violence in the state.

According to Adhikari, Sanjay Bera was arrested following a political altercation on June 4 and subsequently placed in judicial custody. He was admitted to Medinipur Medical College due to health complications and later returned to judicial custody on June 11. Adhikari alleges that Bera sustained fatal injuries during his detention, despite police attributing his death to a head injury from a fall.

In a statement shared on social media platform X, Adhikari expressed his outrage, stating, “Police are giving a lame excuse that he incurred head injury by falling.” His demand for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the incident underscores his suspicion of foul play by the state’s administrative machinery.
