Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a sharp dig at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi during an election rally in Gujarat’s Anand, accusing Pakistan of seeking to install “Shehzada” as India’s Prime Minister. Modi labelled the Congress party as a follower, or “mureed,” of Pakistan, suggesting a close alignment between the two.

Addressing the crowd, PM Modi stated, “The Congress is dying here, and Pakistanis are crying,” insinuating a connection between the faltering fortunes of the Congress party and Pakistan’s interests. He alleged that leaders from Pakistan desire to see the “Shehzada” of the Congress party ascend to the position of Prime Minister in India.

Furthermore, PM Modi criticised the Congress’s track record during its 60 years of governance, contrasting it with the accomplishments of the BJP in its 10 years of rule. He highlighted disparities in infrastructure development, emphasising that the BJP provided tap water connections to 14 crore households in the last decade compared to the Congress’s achievement of only 3 crore households over six decades.

In a move to stoke apprehensions, PM Modi accused the Congress of harbouring intentions to amend the Constitution to grant religious-based reservations, particularly for Muslims. He challenged the Congress to provide a written assurance that they would refrain from such amendments.

Asserting his dedication to India’s progress, PM Modi pledged to tirelessly work towards transforming the nation into a developed country by 2047. This ambitious vision underscored the BJP’s long-term developmental aspirations and PM Modi’s personal commitment to steering India’s growth trajectory.
