Delhi Horror: Minor Mohd Mehtab kills Hindu woman inside her house for opposing relationship with her daughter

Brutal crime rocked Delhi’s Jahangirpuri area on April 26.  A 35-year-old Hindu woman was ruthlessly shot dead in Jahangirpuri, Delhi. The victim, Anita Sharma was against her daughter’s relationship with 17-year-old Mohd Mehtab (17). In order to protect her from Mohd Mehtab, she had sent her to a Gurukul to protect her.

Anita’s 17-year-old alleged assailant, it transpired, had lodged with her while in a reception center for minors, and had spent several weeks in a juvenile home charged with threatening to kidnap Anita’s daughter and forced marriage. According to the victim’s family, the police failed to take strict action against the Muslim boy.

As per news reports, she had already registered a police complaint against the accused once before, but nothing was done. In the past, the girl used to go to tuition class, and the Mehtab used to stalk her along with his friends. The girl had informed her parents, and despite asking the boy not to make such advances, he did not listen.  The accused was recently released from a juvenile home.  He shot her point-blank in front of his neighbours in the morning. Mehtab posted a gun video on his Instagram, and the next day he killed the girl’s mother. Apparently, he was backed by his own family members.

The murder of the mother once again throws into focus the perils of interfaith relationships in India, the danger that women face when they resist such relationships, and the continuing vulnerability of women in Delhi.

A minor Muslim boy along with his two friends killed a 35-year-old Hindu woman in the Jahangirpuri area of Northwest Delhi.

As per reports, the accused used to stalk the victim’s 16-year-old daughter when she went for tuition.

Police have not yet made an arrest of the suspect. But the family and society are shocked and are in grief. A large number of police was deployed outside the residence of the victim to prevent any untoward incidents. While speaking about the matter, DCP (northwest) Jitender Meena said, “Several teams are looking for the accused. They will be arrested shortly.”

This is not the first time, that a woman has been killed in Delhi for objecting to an inter-religous relationship. There had been many instances in the past few years that have created ripples, but still, no concrete steps are taken by the authorities for the security of women and strict action has been taken against the perpetrators.

Cases of Muslim boys targeting Hindu girls are rampant, and this is being done to fulfil their sinister motives. This case comes close to the heels of the Neha murder case in Bengaluru, where the daughter of the Congress councillor was killed in broad daylight in the college by Fayaz, who stabbed her brutally in the neck. Neha’s father had openly said that all Hindu parents should be careful about the safety of their daughters, as the Muslims are working strategically on Love-Jihad.
