“Akbaruddin Owaisi & Asaduddin Owaisi are poisoning people’s minds,” says BJP’s candidate from Hyderabad, Madhavi Latha

Madhavi Latha's recent remarks in Telangana have stirred controversy, as she accuses Akbaruddin Owaisi and Asaduddin Owaisi of influencing public opinion negatively, adding fuel to existing tensions in the region

Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Hyderabad, Madhavi Latha, criticised AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi and AIMIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi on April 24, accusing them of “poisoning people’s minds.”

While addressing the media, Madhavi Latha criticised Asaduddin Owaisi, stating that his leadership is leading his community towards destruction.

“Asaduddin Owaisi is leading his community towards destruction. PM Narendra Modi has brought about so many schemes, and tell me which scheme has Hindu-Muslim written on it? People like Akbaruddin Owaisi and Asaduddin Owaisi are poisoning people’s minds. When they, along with Congress, say they will give everything to the Muslims, where will 120 crore Hindus go?” Madhavi Latha said.

She further accused them of not supporting the Muslims of India while promoting an influx of people from countries like Pakistan and Afghanistan.

“People like Akbaruddin Owaisi and Asaduddin Owaisi do not stand with the Muslims of India and bring in Rohingyas and people from Pakistan and Afghanistan and ask them to reproduce n number of children. When the Pasmanda Muslims have more than 4-5 kids, do they go and ask about their well-being? The Muslims of India are poor, and on top of that, they wish to bring in Muslims from neighbouring countries,” Madhavi Latha said.

Earlier, on April 19, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi lashed out at her, saying that the arrow was targeting the peace and tranquillity of the city. Addressing his first public meeting after filing his nomination from the Hyderabad constituency, Asaduddin Owaisi alleged that the purported gesture by Madhavi Latha was intended to weaken the peace among Hindus and Muslims in the city.

“You saw that one candidate of the BJP is gesturing to shoot an arrow in the direction of a mosque. If you even feel a little bit of pain, you should vote not for the sake of the party but for that ‘ibadatgah’ (prayer house). If you will keep sleeping even now, when will you get up,” Owaisi said. A resident of First Lancer, Hyderabad, lodged a complaint on April 21 against Madhavi Latha following the controversy. The complainant was identified as Shaik Imran.

The BJP candidate from the Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency, Kompella Madhavi Latha, on April 21, ridiculed the complaint filed against her controversial arrow gesture towards a mosque and said if she were against the Muslims, then why would she participate in a procession during the holy month of Ramzan and distribute food to many people with her own hands?

Meanwhile, the BJP candidate from Hyderabad offered prayers at Bhagyalakshmi Temple in Hyderabad ahead of filing her nomination for the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 later today. Along with Madhavi Latha, Union Minister Anurag Thakur was also present.

While talking to the media, Madhavi Latha says, “When those who cause pain do not see their timings, then why should healers wait for the right timing? My nomination is a healer. I came to offer prayers at the Bhagyalaxmi Temple and now that I have this lotus with me, I consider that the lotus (BJP) has won.”

The Lok Sabha election in the 17 parliamentary constituencies of Telangana will be held on May 17.

In the previous 2019 general election, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) won 9 seats, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured 4 seats, and the Indian National Congress (INC) obtained 3 seats. All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) won 1 seat.
