The Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unit has strongly denounced State Fisheries Minister Anitha Radhakrishnan for his derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Radhakrishnan, currently under the scanner of the Enforcement Directorate, made the comments while addressing a gathering in Thoothukudi, in the presence of DMK MP and candidate Kanimozhi.

Radhakrishnan’s comments have sparked outrage and garnered widespread attention. During a meeting of the I.N.D.I Alliance in Tandupathu village near Tiruchendur, he expressed his discontent towards Prime Minister Modi, coupling it with abusive language. He criticised Modi’s interactions with the Chinese Prime Minister, juxtaposing them with his own inadvertent advertisement featuring a Chinese rocket. Radhakrishnan accused the BJP of undermining the legacy of former Chief Minister Kamaraj, questioning Modi’s sincerity in his recent speech in Salem, where he praised Kamaraj.

“I am asking while speaking in Salem, he (PM Modi) spoke about Kamarajar, as if Kamarajar hugged and embraced him and as if he happily accepted,” Radhakrishnan said, using a cuss word in Tamil meaning ‘Mother-F**kers’. “We know what you did, you guys tried to kill him when he was in Delhi. What right do they have to talk about Kamaraj?”

The video of Radhakrishnan’s abusive remarks has since gone viral, drawing strong reactions from various quarters. The BJP spokesperson ANS Prasad demanded immediate action from Chief Minister MK Stalin, urging for Radhakrishnan’s removal from the cabinet and his subsequent arrest. Prasad also called upon Kanimozhi to issue an apology for her failure to stop Radhakrishnan’s derogatory comments.

Meanwhile, a case has been filed against Radhakrishnan under section 294B of the Indian Penal Code for his alleged remarks. Union Minister Anurag Thakur condemned Radhakrishnan’s language, vowing to seek action against him through the Election Commission of India. Thakur criticised the I.N.D.I. Alliance for its “hateful politics” and accused the DMK of disrespecting the Prime Minister.

In response, TN State BJP President Annamalai criticised the DMK’s behaviour, promising to take up the issue with the Election Commission and state authorities. Thoothukudi South District President Sidharanranganathan echoed these sentiments, calling Radhakrishnan’s remarks “disgusting and despicable.”

Additionally, Karnataka Minister Shivraj Tangdaggi’s recent comments, suggesting that youths chanting “Modi Modi” should be slapped, have drawn ire from the BJP. The party lodged a complaint against Tangdaggi, labelling his remarks as a violation of the Model Code of Conduct.

As political tensions escalate, the fallout from these incidents continues to reverberate across the political landscape, prompting calls for accountability and decorum in public discourse.
