Kerala CM’s Daughter Faces Heat: SFIO notice to Medical College over alleged links with Veena’s firm

According to reports, the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) has served notice to Dr Somervell Memorial CSI Medical College (Dr SMCSI MCH), Karakkonam, Thiruvananthapuram district. This is in view of the findings that the College had some links with the controversial Exalogic Solutions owned by Veena Vijayan, daughter of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. SFIO has reportedly got the documents pertaining to financial dealings both institutions had during the 2017–2018 financial year. SFIO has sought more information in connection with these documents.

Notice has reportedly been served to P Thankaraj, the then-administrator of the College. Now, he works for another institution under the CSI Church. SFIO has sought a copy of the MoU signed by Exalogic Solutions and Medical College, copies of work orders, invoices, and related documents, etc.

This is the latest blow to Pinarayi Vijayan, his Left Democratic Front (LDF) and his daughter. This journal has been throwing light on the fraudulent activities of the ruling hierarchy including the illegal monthly payments Exalogic allegedly received from a controversial business house, etc. Recently, the Karnataka High Court rejected the petition filed by Veena Vijayan, daughter of CM Pinarayi Vijayan and wife of Kerala Minister P A Mohammed Riyas, seeking to put an end to the SFIO inquiry into the serious allegations against her. The Court observed that the SFIO enquiry is a must. The decision was pronounced by Justice M Nagaprasanna. Even though the order was pronounced on February 15, the details were revealed by the High Court Registrar on February 16.

The Court made it a point to mention that SFIO is going to inquire into not only the Rs 1.72 crore dealings between Exalogic Solutions and CMRL but also the Rs 135 crore that CMRL is alleged to have gifted to various political leaders.

Since the Karnataka High Court order is in public domain, hereafter SFIO does not have to face any hindrance in interrogating Veena Vijayan.

The Exalogic petition was to counter the central Ministry of Company Affairs’s order for SFIO inquiry. Exalogic filed the petition when SFIO was reportedly all set to interrogate Veena Vijayan.
