In a significant development, the Telugu Desam Party rejoined the NDA after a six-year separation. In recent days, TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu has continued to hold conversations with BJP’s top leadership, including Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP President JP Nadda, at the former’s residence. JP Nadda’s declaration puts an end to all of the speculation that has been circulating for the past two weeks. The BJP-TDP-Janasena alliance will contest the upcoming Assembly and Loksabha elections in Andhra Pradesh.

I wholeheartedly welcome the decision of Shri @ncbn and Shri @PawanKalyan to join the NDA family. Under the dynamic and visionary leadership of Hon. PM Shri @narendramodi ji, BJP, TDP, and JSP are committed to the progress of the country and the upliftment of the state and…

The statement from JP Nadda states, “I wholeheartedly welcome the decision of ChandraBabu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan to join the NDA family. Under the dynamic and visionary leadership of PM Shri Narendra Modi ji, BJP, TDP, and JSP are committed to the progress of the country and the upliftment of the state and people of Andhra Pradesh.

In a joint press statement, BJP National President Jaqat Prakash Nadda, TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu, & Jana Sena Party Shri Pawan Kalỵan, state “the BJP, TDP and Jana Sena Party (JSP) as being committed for the progress of country and the upliftment of state and people of Andhra Pradesh; have decided to contest the ensuing Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections together in Andhra Pradesh.

The statement confirms that , “The modalities of seat sharing will be deliberated within a day or two. We hope that the alliance will meet the expectations of the people of Andhra Pradesh with their wholehearted support of people at large.”

In 2014, the TDP and the BJP fought the Lok Sabha election and assembly election together. The JSP supported the 2014 general and assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh.

On February 24, the alliance of Telugu Desam and Janasena parties released its first list of candidates for the state assembly elections. Pawan Kalyan’s party received 24 assemblies and 3 parliamentary seats as part of the Telugu Desam-Jana Sena coalition. Telugu Desam has already announced its candidates for 94 seats, while the Jana Sena has announced five. Janasena has been allotted 19 of the remaining 76 seats. This means that 57 seats have yet to be declared. Three of the 25 parliamentary constituencies have been given to the Jana Sena, leaving 22 seats available.
