Guwahati: In a bold political statement, NEDA Convenor and Assam Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, foresees a resounding triumph for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. CM Sarma’s optimism centres around the NDA’s projected win of an impressive 22 out of 25 Lok Sabha seats in the Northeast region.

Assam’s Key Role

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, in a press conference, emphasised the pivotal role of Assam, confidently stating that the NDA is poised to clinch a majority of the 14 seats, with the potential to secure even 12 seats. This sets the stage for a compelling electoral performance. He said, “ As of now we will win 11 seats for sure. It could be even 12 which is not impossible.”

Strategic Alliances in Tripura

The alliance with the main opposition, Tipra Motha, positions the NDA favourably in Tripura, making victory in both seats a distinct possibility. This collaborative approach strengthens the NDA’s electoral strategy. After signing the long pending agreement with the tribal body in New Delhi in presence of union home minister Amit Shah and CM Manik Saha on March 2, Tipra Motha led by Royal Scion Pradyut Manikya Dev Barman is all set to join the NDA.

Winning Prospects in Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Arunachal Pradesh: The winning potential of NDA partners, the National People’s Party (NPP) and the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), in Meghalaya and Nagaland will further strengthen the NDA in the Northeastern region. In Arunachal Pradesh, where both seats are currently held by BJP MPs, including Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and Tapir Gao, the NDA anticipates maintaining its strong foothold in the bordering state where the BJP has its own government. As the political landscape evolves, the NDA aims to build upon its historic 2019 success, targeting 22-23 seats in the Northeast, including Sikkim. This strategic move underscores the NDA’s commitment to extending its influence in the region.

Manipur Challenges

Even in the politically challenging terrain of Manipur, NEDA remains steadfast in its confidence of winning both parliamentary constituencies. CM Sarma’s assurance reflects the alliance’s resilience in navigating complex scenarios. NEDA is confident enough that both the seats in Manipur will be won by NDA.

Building on Past Triumphs: Reflecting on the 2019 elections, where the BJP and its allies achieved unprecedented success by securing 18 out of 25 seats, the NDA is poised to continue its upward trajectory, aiming for a dominant victory in the Northeast. This time for NDA it is “Ab Ki Bar 400 Par” and for NEDA it is 22 or more out of 25 in the North East.
