Udhayanidhi Stalin, the Youth and Sports Development Minister of the DMK and scion of the DMK dynasty, faces backlash from the BJP and netizens for his disparaging comments on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The remarks, made during a party’s IT wing functionaries meeting in Coimbatore, have sparked controversy, leading to criticisms of the young politician for allegedly crossing the boundaries of public decorum.

During the meeting, Udhayanidhi Stalin challenged the BJP to win a single seat in Tamil Nadu and launched a scathing attack on the Prime Minister. He accused the Modi-led government of contributing only “28 paisa” to the state for every rupee the state pays as tax. The DMK minister, known for his provocative statements, further stated that the BJP would be unable to defeat his party, DMK, in the state.

In a bold challenge to Prime Minister Modi, Udhayanidhi Stalin urged him to spend the next 40 days in Tamil Nadu, ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, asserting that even after such an endeavour, the BJP would fail to secure a single seat in the state. He criticised Modi for not visiting Tamil Nadu during times of crisis, such as floods or cyclones, except during election periods.

Udhayanidhi Stalin’s comments took a personal turn when he remarked, “PM Modi has been going around Tamil Nadu… Whenever he opens his mouth, he lies. He says they (BJP) will destroy the DMK. Dear PM, not just you, even your grandfather cannot do anything to DMK. You cannot even touch the DMK.” He emphasised that those who had proclaimed to eliminate the DMK since 1949 have vanished, and the party remains indestructible.

Udhayanidhi Stalin, while addressing a gathering, launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Modi, questioning the sincerity of BJP’s politics. He urged the party’s IT wing and cadres to popularize the hashtag “Get out Modi” for the upcoming elections, alleging that the BJP is deceiving the public with falsehoods. Stalin also criticized the Prime Minister for praising the late J. Jayalalithaa, asserting that Modi should be aware of her corruption conviction and alleging a staggering corruption figure of 7.5 lakh crores exposed by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG).

Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, L Murugan, responded swiftly to Udhayanidhi’s remarks. Murugan accused DMK leaders of fearing PM Modi’s frequent visits to Tamil Nadu and the BJP’s growing influence in the state. He questioned the DMK’s anxiety over the Prime Minister’s visits and accused the party of being gripped by fear due to the shift in public sentiment towards the BJP. Murugan further alleged that the DMK was fostering separatism and supporting separatist elements.

K Annamalai, the Chief of BJP in Tamil Nadu, joined the fray, vehemently criticizing Udhayanidhi Stalin’s remarks. Annamalai questioned Udhayanidhi’s credentials and background, dismissing him as a failed actor who rode on his father’s political legacy. He belittled Udhayanidhi’s contributions, emphasising that he lacked the stature of superstars like Kamal Haasan or Rajinikanth. Annamalai questioned Udhayanidhi’s social work, grassroots involvement, and public service, challenging him to showcase tangible achievements beyond his family name.

The war of words intensified as Annamalai questioned Udhayanidhi’s standing in politics, asserting that he was merely leveraging his family’s name to climb the political ladder. He challenged Udhayanidhi’s worthiness compared to PM Modi, emphasising the need for responsible dialogue and awareness of the opponent’s significance.

The verbal skirmish between Udhayanidhi Stalin and BJP leaders underscores the escalating political tension in Tamil Nadu ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. The exchange not only revolves around political ideologies but delves into personal attacks and assessments of individual contributions. As the verbal sparring continues, it reflects the charged atmosphere in the state, setting the stage for a fierce electoral battle between the DMK-led coalition and the BJP. The upcoming elections in Tamil Nadu will likely witness further intensification of political rhetoric as both sides strive to consolidate their positions in the state’s political landscape.
