Forces setup camp in Maoist stronghold

It is worth mentioning that the development occurred days after the security forces established a new security camp (Tactical Headquarters) in the Maoist stronghold of Puverti village of Sukma on Friday, February 16. Surrounded by dense forests and mountains, Puverti is a village associated with many notorious Maoist which witnessed unfurling of the national flag for the first time on February 18.

Situated around 150 km from the district headquarters of Sukma, the village is home to the notorious Maoist commander Madavi Hidma, a former commander of the Peoples Liberation Guerilla Army (PLGA) battalion no 01, the strongest unit of the armed wing of outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist).

Additionally, the alleged headquarters of the insurgents, Puverti is also home to Deva Barse, the incumbent commnader of PLGA, battalion no 1, along with hundreds of people who are actively working with the proscribed Maoist outfit.

According to the reports, the security personnel upon establishing the camp amidst heavy resistance from the extremist also organised a health camp at the village on Monday and interacted with the villagers subsequently. Earlier the security officials had also met with the family members of the dreaded Maoist leader Hidma.

It is pertinent to mention here that earlier while addressing the party workers at a two-day national convention in New Delhi, Union Home Minister, Amit Shah on Sunday, February 18, has once again asserted that the country will be free from Left Wing Extremism (LWE) in next term of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government.
