Chhattisgarh: 3 jawans martyred,14 injured after Maoists attack a combing party of security forces near Tekalgudem

As many as three security personnel have been martyred, while a total of 14 Jawans are reported to be injured after armed cadres of the proscribed CPI Maoist launched a deadly attack on security forces out on a combing operation on Tuesday, January 30.

According to the reports, a joint team of security personnel of District Reserve Guards (DRG), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA), and district force were out on a combing operation in the Jonaguda-Aliguda area near Tekalgudem camp, where the team was ambushed by the Maoists.

It’s been learned that as many as three security personnel have been martyred in the gunfight, while a total of 14 Jawan have received injuries. Among the injured personnel, a total of four have reportedly sustained grave injuries, while the rest are reported to be alright. All of the injured personnel have been airlifted to Raipur.

It’s been reported that as many as two of the martyred personnel are from CoBRA, while a constable of CRPF was also among those who have attained martyrdom. The attack on the security forces has occurred in the same region where as many as 23 security personnel were martyred in another similar attack carried out by the extremists in the year 2021.

According to the reports floating in the media, as many as six extremists have also been killed in the retaliatory fire by the forces. Meanwhile, confirming the development, the Bastar IG, SundarRaj P has asserted that the martyrdom of the personnel will not go in vain.

It’s been reported that the attack occurred in the core Maoist zone near the Bijapur-Sukma border, where the forces have recently opened a security camp. It is to be noted that, of late, the security forces have opened a number of security camps in the erstwhile Maoist bastion with a view to boosting their presence and furthering the development work.

It is to be noted that as many as three security personnel had also martyred in separate Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) explosions triggered by the extremists at separate places in Chhattisgarh recently.
