In his Republic Day address, Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi emphasised the transformative impact of the recent Pran Pratishtha ceremony at the Sri Ram Temple in Ayodhya, describing it as an epochal event that has inspired the nation.

Governor RN Ravi expressed that the historic consecration of Sri Ram Lalla at the magnificent Sri Ram Temple in Ayodhya, just a few days ago, has instilled a sense of enthusiasm and self-confidence across the nation. He asserted that this monumental event has injected new energy, contributing to the vision of building a fully developed Bharat.

Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi delivered a comprehensive Republic Day address, touching upon various crucial topics, including the Pran Pratishtha ceremony and significant welfare projects initiated by the Central government. Commencing his speech, he paid heartfelt tributes to martyrs, freedom fighters, and members of the armed forces who have contributed to the nation’s freedom and security.

Governor RN Ravi expressed his sincere gratitude to the armed forces, security agencies, and police for their relentless vigil, valour, and sacrifices in defending the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country. He also acknowledged the crucial role played by volunteers and voluntary organizations in providing rescue and relief during natural disasters, specifically mentioning their efforts in the aftermath of cyclonic storm Michaung and floods in the southern districts of the state.

Acknowledging the achievements in various fields, Governor R N Ravi highlighted the glories brought by Indian scientists through successful missions to the Moon (Chandrayaan-3) and the Sun (Aditya-L1). He congratulated the country’s sportsmen and women for achieving record numbers of medals in international sports, particularly praising the young women cricketers for securing the Championship trophy in the U-19 T-20 World Cup-2023.

The Governor listed several spectacular achievements in 2023, emphasising Bharat’s position as the fastest-growing large economy globally. He pointed out that Bharat is currently the fifth-largest economy, poised to soon become the third-largest. He highlighted the success of launching Bharat’s own 5G network, becoming the third-largest start-up ecosystem, and commissioning the first Aircraft Carrier, INS Vikrant, making Bharat one of the top global naval powers.

Through the G-20 presidency, Governor RN Ravi mentioned that Bharat offered an inclusive, equitable, and human-centric development model for a sustainable global future, with the theme “One-Earth, One-Family, One-Future.” He applauded the passage of the historic Women’s Reservation Bill, which provides a quantum boost to women’s empowerment through their participation in democratic governance at the highest level.

Governor RN Ravi emphasised the nation’s commitment to “Sabka-Saath, Sabka-Vikas, and Sabka-Prayas,” noting the quantum leap towards providing essential elements of a healthy citizenship to all citizens. The achievements included universal healthcare, education, access to basic amenities such as drinking water, cooking gas, toilets, electricity, and digital connectivity. He mentioned the construction of 40 lakh homes for the homeless poor and Bharat’s digital public infrastructure and direct benefit transfer system becoming models admired globally.

Governor Ravi highlighted the significant role of Tamil Nadu’s sports personalities, including Master R.Praggnanandhaa, Vaishali Rameshbabu, Mariyappan Thangavelu, Dipika Pallikal, Joshna Chinnappa, C.A.Bhawani Devi, Sharath Kamal, and Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, in shaping India into a sports superpower by 2047.

Governor Ravi commenced his address by expressing gratitude to the martyrs, freedom fighters, and members of the armed forces, emphasising their contributions to the country’s freedom and security. He also acknowledged the efforts of volunteers and voluntary organisations during natural disasters and calamities, appreciating their crucial role in rescue and relief operations.

Shifting to the achievements of the past year, Governor Ravi lauded India’s scientists for successful missions to the Moon (Chandrayaan-3) and the Sun (Aditya-L1). He applauded the nation’s sportsmen and women for achieving record numbers of medals in international sports, with a special mention of the young women cricketers winning the U-19 T-20 World Cup-2023.

The governor addressed social issues, expressing concern over reports of social discrimination and caste-based practices. He called for unity and conscious efforts to eradicate regressive practices, emphasising the importance of remaining united like a family in the national mission for a developed Bharat.

Governor Ravi concluded his address with a global perspective, acknowledging that the world looks to Bharat with hope and expectations to solve global problems and lead the way to a sustainable future. He urged citizens to uphold the inherent cultural ethos of Bharat, which views the world as a family, and encouraged them to contribute to building a fully capable and responsible nation.

In his closing remarks, Governor RN Ravi’s Republic Day address celebrated the achievements of Tamil Nadu’s sports personalities, highlighted Bharat’s advancements, and called for unity and conscious efforts to eradicate regressive practices for a brighter future. The governor’s words resonated with a vision of Bharat that contributes positively to global expectations and builds a fully capable and responsible nation in the years to come.
