Assam to Ayodhya: A journey reflecting devotion and belief of youths in Bhagwan Ram as they walk their way

In the enthusiastic atmosphere prevailing across the country, a story of a few young guns is rather inspiring. One of them is Jitumoni Das a 24-year-old youth from Asaam who has been walking along with two of his friends from Moregaon district to Ayodhya on foot.

Das, along with his two friends, Deepankar Das and Rupjyoti Sener, commenced their journey to the sacred town of Ayodhya on 18th of last month. So far the trio have walked a distance of around 1000 kilometres from the home town, where they got a heartwarming see-off when they started their march to Ayodhya.

Speaking with the Organiser Correspondent, Jitumoni said, “When we commenced our journey, we had never thought of getting such support from the people. We have been surprised and elated by the response we got from the masses in the journey so far.”

Jitumoni also spoke about how people came forward to help them when they got to know that they were travelling from Assam to Ayodhya. He stated, “Whoever we interacted with in our journey has expressed their happiness knowing about our resolve to walk all the way to Ayodhya from Assam; they thought of us as staunch Ram Bhakts; hence, they arranged food, accommodation, and whatever we needed.”

“We prefer staying in temples or petrol pumps; we are carrying everything with us, such as blankets, tents, etc., the rest we get from the people wherever we stay,” added Das.

On being asked that it’s so cold out there in the open and the government has instructed the schools to shutdown till January 22 in view of the weather, Jitomani replied instantly, “the temple of Bhagwan Ram is coming up after a struggle of centuries, so how can anyone have second thought sof not going to Ayodhya. Initially it was really tough, but soon our worries faded away; it’s all a blessing of Bhagwan Ram.”

“The moment we started walking, we never had a second thought about reaching our destination. Despite all the difficulties thrown by nature, a divine power has been always inspiring and motivating us, now we only have to cover a distance of 300 kilometers and we hope to cover it in a week’s time, added a smiling Das who carries a mix of emotions of devotion and pride on his face.

In the end, when asked that the youth like you were not even born when the Ram Janambhomi movement was at its peak in the nineties, Das replied instantly that it’s really astonishing that the Hindus have to fight for so long to build a temple for their beloved Ram.

“We all have seen the Ramayan serial in our childhood days; we have heard stories from our grandparents about Bhagwan; we are really fortunate that a home is being built for our Ram in our times”, said Das while starting to walk again after the short break.
