As the nation eagerly anticipates the historic inauguration of the Ram Mandir on January 22, Delhi is set to transform into a vibrant hub of celebration, resembling the joyous festival of Deepawali. More than 100 big markets across the city are preparing to mark this auspicious occasion, expecting a staggering business worth Rs 15 thousand crore. The city’s market associations, including prominent traders, industrialists and organisations, are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring a memorable celebration.

The Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI) is playing a pivotal role in orchestrating the festivities, with Chairman Brijesh Goyal and President Subhash Khandelwal at the forefront. Special programmes are scheduled to take place in over 100 retail and wholesale markets, promising a diverse array of events to engage the citizens of Delhi.

Kashmiri Gate is all set to host a Bhandara, while Kamla Nagar boasts the adornment of garlands, and Khan Market proudly displays saffron flags. Laxmi Nagar is gearing up for a spiritual experience with Sunderkand, while Dariba Kalan will be illuminated akin to the grandeur of Deepawali. Jewellers across the city are joining the festivities by offering discounts to customers, and a Ram concert is scheduled to enthral the audience.

Bhagirath Palace is spreading sweetness by distributing boxes of laddus, and gates adorned with decorations will welcome visitors. Naya Bazaar is undergoing beautiful lighting arrangements, promising a visually spectacular celebration. Sarojini Nagar Market plans to light up the night with an impressive display of 21 thousand lamps, while Lajpat Nagar Market will be adorned with saffron balloons and flags, hosting a Sundarkand path.

The enthusiasm extends to Rohini, where special arrangements are being made, and shopkeepers in Nehru Place are gearing up to celebrate Deepawali on the day of Pran Pratistha. Chandni Chowk and Sadar Bazaar are not left behind, with plans for special decorations and a Shobha yatra.

Chairman Brijesh Goyal of CTI emphasised the economic impact of the Ram Mandir inauguration, estimating a business worth Rs 15 thousand crore. Markets such as Sadar Bazaar, Chandni Chowk, Maliwada, Kinari Bazaar, Karol Bagh, Gandhi Nagar, and Tank Road are witnessing a surge in the dispatch of goods to other cities.

He highlighted the unique market demand, noting the popularity of Ram Mandir models, Ram costumes, garlands, crowns, bows, flags, lockets, key rings, and photos of Sri Ram. The sale of flags ranges from Rs 60 to Rs 300, badges are priced at Rs 50 per piece, and intricate models of the Ram Mandir are available for Rs 200 to Rs 1000. The market is flooded with Sri Ram-themed kurtas and T-shirts.

The consensus among traders is evident, as they unanimously agree that Sri Ram belongs to everyone, transcending political affiliations. As a mark of unity, neither the banners or flags of any political party or politician will be displayed during the celebration of the Ram Mandir inauguration.

Delhi is not only witnessing the historic event of the Ram Mandir inauguration but is also transforming into a spectacle of joy and festivity, reminiscent of the cherished festival of Deepawali.
