Guwahati: In an intriguing twist ahead of Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra in Assam, AIUDF Chief and Assam MP Badruddin Ajmal has predicted an interesting dynamic. Ajmal suggested that, while many unmarried women may flock to catch a glimpse of the handsome bachelor, they are unlikely to translate their admiration into votes for the Congress party.
Taking a dig at the Congress leader’s upcoming journey, Ajmal humorously comments on the potential attraction factor, stating that Gandhi’s unmarried status might draw a significant crowd, but these spectators are not expected to be supporters at the ballot box. Rahul Gandhi is set to embark on the second leg of his Bharat Jodo Yatra in Assam starting from January 18th, with a two-day stint in Ajmal’s constituency of Dhubri.
Ajmal quips about the “Chikna” (handsome) bachelor aspect, adding a playful note that Gandhi might be considered lucky if any of the unmarried women present at the event falls for him. However, the AIUDF chief firmly asserts his belief that despite the attention, Congress is bound to face electoral setbacks.
Further criticising the Congress party, Ajmal draws an analogy, stating that the Congress party now behave more like a fox than the tiger they once claimed to be. This perspective hints at a shift in perception and strategy by the AIUDF leader.
In contrast, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasises the developmental strides in the state and invites Gandhi to witness the progress. CM Sarma specifically points to advancements in national highways and iconic landmarks such as the Bogibeel bridge and Kolia Bhomora Setu, suggesting that these accomplishments occurred during a period not possible under the leadership of Gandhi’s family members.
