The security forces have seized a huge cache of explosive materials in a joint operation launched in the forest of Maoist infested Luddiya Pahadi area under the Madanpur police station limits of Aurangabad in Bihar on Thursday, December 21, informed police.

According to the information received, a joint team of Aurangabad police, Special Task Force (STF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) has launched a search operation near the Luddiya Pahadi area on specific intel following which the team seized pressure Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), Cane IEDs, Detonators and codex wire.

As many as 16080 pcs of electronic detonators, 554 pcs of cane IEDs (weighing around 1662 kg) along with a couple of pressure IEDs weighing around 6 kg have been recovered by the team during the search operation. Additionally, the combing team has also recovered a total of 4 bundles of codex wire, widely used by the extremists in IEDs explosion.

Briefing about the development, Superintendent of Police (SP), Aurangabad, Swapna Gautam Meshram informed that on the basis of local intelligence that the Naxals (Maoist) were planning to carry out an attack on the security forces near the Luddiya Pahadi area, a joint team of security personnel was dispatched to the location.

During the search operation huge amount of explosive materials were recovered and destroyed at the spot by the team. The operation has hampered the morale of the extremist and further operation to curb the Naxals activities are on, added SP Aurangabad

It is to be noted that the joint operation was conducted just hours ahead of the nationwide shutdown call given by the outlawed Communist party of India (Maoist) on December 22, in view of which security has been beefed up in insurgency-hit regions across states.

Earlier the extremist wreaked havoc in separate regions of the insurgency-hit Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand ahead of their Bharat Band. The ultras torched vehicles, set ablaze a mobile tower and wooden stocks to disrupt the transportation in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh.

Meanwhile similar news of Maoist attack also emerged from the insurgency-hit Chaibasa of Jharkhand where the extremist blown up a railway track on late Thursday night disrupting the Mumbai-Howrah train route near Goilkera-Poseta railway station.
