Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan hit out at Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on December 21, amid the ongoing protests by Student Federation of India (SFI), the student wing of the ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist) in the State.
“He (Kerala CM) is hiring goons to attack my car. Who were they? They were sent by him or by somebody else. With such a person, I don’t want to join an issue,” he said.
“I don’t want to reply to anything whatever he says. The man who organises an attack on the Governor does not deserve any response from me,” the Governor added.
He further pointed out the financial emergency in the State, asserting, “Kerala according to their affidavit says is not in a position to honour financial guarantees which the state govt has given. It means that they are not able to perform their constitutional responsibilities. Its clear cut acknowledging that the state is under financial emergency.”
Earlier in the day, SFI members showed black flags to Governor Khan’s convoy in Thiruvananthapuram. The workers were later detained by police.
This comes amid unrest between Pinarayi Vijayan’s Government and Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, the Student Federation of India (SFI), a student wing of the ruling CPI(M), has been staging protests.
The SFI activists’ protests came as they were alleging that the governor has been pushing the “BJP-RSS nominees” to the senate of various universities in Kerala using his authority as the chancellor of universities in the State.
