Members of Chhattisgarh’s Legislative Assembly (MLAs) including Chief Minister (CM), Vishnu Deo Sai took oath on the first day of the winter session of the sixth Chhattisgarh state assembly on Tuesday, December 19.

Prominent members of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) including Deputy CM, Arun Sao and Vijay sharma along with senior leaders of the Congress party including the former CM Bhupesh Baghel and Charan Das Mahant took turn to take oath and shared a few lighter moments in between on the first day of the assembly.

Later, the house also unanimously elected former CM and senior leader of the BJP, Raman Singh as the speaker of the assembly following a number of senior leader cutting across the parties supported the resolution for the appointment of the former. Raman Singh was later escorted to his chair by CM Vishnu Deo Sai and newly appointed leader of the opposition Charan Das Mahant.

Taking to the X, Raman Singh who had a brief tenure as the Chief Minister of the state during the fifteen year BJP rule, later thanked the incumbent CM and the leader of opposition for his appointment as the speaker of the house.

Earlier a number of the MLA including the CM Sai and the Dy.CM Arun sao took oath in the local Chhattisgarhi language while as many as 9 MLAs have taken the oath in Sanskrit.

मैं अरुण साव विधानसभा के सदस्य निर्वाचित होए हावव।

ईश्वर के सपथ लेवत हव कि विधि ले स्थापित भारत के संविधान मा सही श्रध्दा अऊ निष्ठा रखिहव।

It is to be noted that the BJP made a grand returned to the power after a drought of five years by securing victories on as many as 54 seats of the 90 seats assembly in the recently concluded state assembly elections whose results were announced on December 03.

The party’s win in the election has been unprecedented given the fact that a number of political pundits and poll analyst had earlier claimed that the Prime Minister (PM) led party would only manage to get around 30-40 seats in the much hyped state assembly elections.

Though, beating all the odds the party led by PM Modi swept the Janjati dominated northern region of the state and also performed exceptionally well in the southern part of the state where the Janjati Community constitutes a significant majority paving its return to the power after a drought of five years.
