.In a historic move, a bronze murti of the vulture ‘Jatayu’ has been installed at the revered ‘Kuber Tila’ in the Ram Janmabhoomi complex, set to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 22, 2024. The idol pays homage to Jatayu’s crucial role in the Ramayana and serves as a symbol of devotion, sacrifice, and the struggles faced by millions of devotees associated with the Ram temple movement in Kalyug.

The Treasurer of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Trust, Govind Devagiri, shared details of the Prime Minister’s visit, noting that Modi would commence the ceremony by offering tributes to the statue of Jatayu at the Ram temple. Subsequently, he participated in the consecration of the idol of Ram Lalla, marking another significant milestone in the long-standing Ayodhya saga.

Jatayu, a revered character from the epic Ramayana, is remembered for sacrificing his life in devotion to Bhagwan Ram and Sita during the Treta Yug. The newly installed murti not only commemorates this tale but also symbolises the dedication and sacrifices of countless devotees involved in the struggle for the construction of the Ram temple.

Anil Mishra, a trust member, revealed that a mountain of stones, standing at an impressive height of 5 feet, has been meticulously prepared to serve as the foundation for the Jatayu idol. This meticulous preparation underscores the significance attached to the idol and its placement within the historic Ram Janmabhoomi complex.

While focusing on the Jatayu idol, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is also undertaking the renovation of the ancient Shiv temple situated on ‘Kuber Tila.’ The trust members emphasised the importance of preserving the cultural and historical heritage associated with the site, making this renovation a complementary effort to the ongoing developments in the region.

‘Kuber Tila,’ a prominent mountain within the premises of Ram Janmabhoomi, bears witness to the rich history of the freedom movement in India. Trust member Anil Mishra highlighted that this sacred site was the location where Baba Ram Sharan Das, a seer of the Hanumangarhi temple in Ayodhya, and Maulvi Ameer Ali, a cleric from Faizabad, were hanged together on March 18, 1858. This grim event occurred as a consequence of the British suppression of the 1857 revolt, emphasising the site’s historical significance beyond its religious connotations.

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares to offer his tributes and consecrate the Jatayu murti, Ayodhya anticipates a momentous occassion that not only strengthens the spiritual fabric of the region but also contributes to the broader narrative of India’s cultural and historical heritage. The consecration ceremony stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of the Ram temple movement and the collective aspirations of millions who have played a role in its realisation.
