.The shooting occurred at a location between Haraothel and Kobsha towns, leaving security forces to piece together the circumstances leading to the attack. Authorities are actively investigating the incident to uncover the motives and dynamics behind the violence. The deceased IRB jawan was identified as Henminlen Vaiphei, while the civilian personnel was recognised as Thangminlun Hangsing. The fatal encounter transpired when unidentified gunmen executed a lethal ambush.

In addition to the loss of lives, security forces have made a significant discovery in the aftermath of the clash. A substantial cache of arms and ammunition was recovered, underscoring the severity of the confrontation and the potential threat posed by the involved parties.

In response to the persistent unrest in Manipur, security forces have intensified search activities and region dominance operations in the vulnerable areas of Imphal-West, Imphal-East, Thoubal, Kakching, Kangpokpi, and Churachandpur districts.

The recent operations yielded significant results, with the recovery of arms and explosives in various districts. In Thoubal district, security forces retrieved two arms, including a factory-made gun with a magazine and a locally made gun with an extended magazine. Additionally, five 36 HE Hand explosives, two 80 explosives, and twenty-five live ammunitions were seized.

In Kakching Region, two arms, namely a .303 Rifle with a magazine and a locally made 9mm gun with one empty magazine, along with three 36 HE Hand explosives, were recovered. Furthermore, Lungjang town in Churachandpur Region saw the discovery of three arms, including an AK-47 with one magazine and a 0.303 Rifle with one magazine each.

Simultaneously, security forces conducted search operations, area control, and march-pasts in Tengnoupal, Kakching, Thoubal, and Imphal West, emphasising a comprehensive approach to address the prevailing challenges.

Efforts have been made to facilitate the movement of essential goods, with 180 vehicles escorted along NH-37. Stringent security measures have been implemented in vulnerable areas, and security caravans have been deployed to ensure the unhindered and safe transit of vehicles.

A total of 135 Nakas/Designated spots have been established across different regions of Manipur, both in the hill and valley areas. Police took action against 126 individuals for various violations in different parts of the state.

It is noteworthy that Manipur has been grappling with a volatile situation for the past seven months, following the onset of ethnic clashes on May 3. The state has witnessed over 180 casualties, numerous injuries, and the disappearance of more than 40 individuals, including women and students. Additionally, the violence has internally displaced over 60,000 people, marking one of the deadliest periods of unrest in the state’s recent history. The ongoing efforts by security forces aim to restore peace and stability in the region.

As the investigation unfolds, the region remains on edge, with residents and authorities grappling with the aftermath of yet another incident of violence. The incident highlights the complex challenges faced by law enforcement in maintaining peace and order in the region, as well as the need for continued efforts to address underlying issues contributing to such outbreaks.
